This spacious deck north of Des Moines in Ames features low-maintenance, Trex Transcend decking. Stairs wrap around the full front edge of the bayed deck, with a Belgard Urbana hardscaped landing easing the transition to the backyard. A cedar pergola sits over a portion of the deck and Belgard Tandem Wall columns and a planter box define the ares of the deck nicely.
A Belgard Pizza Oven is the cooking centerpiece of this space. We integrated Belgard’s Tandem Wall stone into the pergola columns to provide more countertop space for this outdoor kitchen area. Lots of outdoor lighting on this space make it great for evening pizza parties.

VisionScapesSurrounded by 30 year old trees, the homeowners were looking for an organic, modern, low maintenance finish to their outdoor environment. Utilizing the pre-existing mature apple tree in the backyard VisionScapes developed a tranquil retreat that extended the sq.ft of the home through a series of terraced concrete and wood decks. Pathways and patio systems were locally sourced from a quarry on the edge of the Rocky Mountains.

Amber Freda Garden DesignThese eye-catching red lacquer fiberglass planters gave this terrace garden a much needed splash of color. To give her wicker seating area more privacy from nearby buildings, we planted tall evergreen arborvitaes in charcoal-colored fiberglass pots. The deck is a Trex composite deck, which is approved for fire safety by the NYC Department of Buildings. Read more about this garden on my blog, www.amberfreda.com.
Blossoms+StoneThe back deck was extended to increase the usable space. The hot tub was relocated to the other side of the yard and a built in kitchen was added to the far end. The decking is laid in a herringbone pattern with Trek boards. The sitting area has a openable metal pergola and gas heating for the winter.
