“After consulting with three separate general contractors, we chose to work with the team at Advice Homes because they were able to relate to my wife and I unlike the other two contractors. From the first meeting Chris was friendly and did not give any high pressure sales approaches that we despise. We had a pretty good idea of what our vision was for our kitchen renovation. The design team took some pictures we gave them of various projects we found online and incorporated them into our own thoughts. We could not imagine that they could fit those ideas into a real life design the way they did. The construction of a kitchen is stressful if you like to cook daily. The laborers that worked on the kitchen were very mindful and understanding of our concerns for the continued use of our kitchen. Chris outlined days that we would be without the use of our stove, sink and prep area. This made it easy for us to plan. My wife found this easy and relieved her stress. Naturally this made me happy and I was thankful for the planning and heads up. The communication throughout the project was key to the overall success we felt with choosing this company. The overall project was finished in a reasonable time. There were some delays for a few furnishings but this was foreseen by Chris and we understood given the origin of the products. The quality was checked over in detail by the foreman and finally by Chris. To say that what was shown in drawings and renderings is an understatement. Everything came together and we were elated to have the finish product exactly what we desired.”

“Hakan was the project manager for our renovation. Each detail was explained thoroughly. I interviewed several home improvement companies in the northern Virginia area; none matched the knowledge of product information and costs of construction for completely renovating my kitchen. Architectural renditions were exact to specifications;no last-minute changes had to be made. Prior to the beginning of the renovation, costs and date of completion was discussed along with a time line dedicated to the selection of cabinets, floor, tiles, lighting fixtures etc. The crew assigned to my project were courteous, quick, clean and put materials away each day. “Nelson Interiors helped me revamp my entire first floor by coming up with an overall design scheme that updated the space, made it look a lot less cluttered, and incorporated a few family heirlooms while still keeping it functional. This involved paint colors, window treatments, lighting, furniture selections, and accent pieces. They also redid our master bath, encouraging us re-orient and open up the shower which makes the space look much more spacious and modern. Julie and Mark are easy to work with and responsive. “We just completed having VA Renovations complete 3 projects in our home. A small one (replacing a toilet), a medium sized one (adding end panels to our kitchen cabinets) and a large one (a hall bathroom remodel.) I can honestly say, that the performance of the team was excellent on all three types of projects. One differentiator was that in our initial project planning session, Geoffrey listened to what we wanted done and provided excellent ideas that would help us get as close to what we wanted but stay within a reasonable budget. My eyes are always bigger than my budget on these projects. I was also very impressed to be asked what was most important to me in a contractor. Of course, all things are important but he was interested in knowing what I cared most about so that his team could be sure to deliver. I was given the opportunity to explain that our schedules are difficult between two jobs and caring for our disabled son and that communication about when people were coming was critical to us. They definitely delivered on good communication. One way they did this was by building a relationship between us and the foreman and using technology to keep communication open. There was an introductory phone call with the job foreman and the owner before we started and then a group text between Geoffrey, the owner, our foreman and us that we used throughout the project. These things are not about the quality of work but more the quality of the process which was terrific. All that said, the quality of the work was also top notch. The crew that showed up did an excellent job and was very flexible to ensure we got a great result. Once work was done, we had the opportunity to do a final list and the few items were addressed promptly to ensure we were completely happy with the work. We could not be happier with the work and will definitely be using VA Renovations on our next project.”
