MainStreet Design BuildThis bungalow features a large covered porch in the back of the house, that mimics the exacting detail in the front of the home.
Columns were added to the new covered front porch, and the stone below the bay window was replaced with new flagstone. A pergola was added at the breezeway area, and a new window was added to the front gable on the garage, with dark green shutters, which was finished in cedar shake siding.

This home features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a two-car detached garage and boasts an impressive great room, whose soaring ceilings and walls of glass welcome the outside in to make the space feel one with nature.
The Yard StylistThis project in Morrison Ranch, Gilbert, AZ, comprises an Alumawood pergola, firepit, pavers, and decorative lighting. The installation of all these features has created an all-encompassing outdoor entertainment area for the homeowners. The brown and tan pavers work well with the earth tones of the firepit. The outdoor dining area coupled with the lighting means that the homeowner can enjoy meals outdoors when the sun goes down. After dinner, family and guests can relax around the firepit.

Story LLCOur clients wanted to add on to their 1950's ranch house, but weren't sure whether to go up or out. We convinced them to go out, adding a Primary Suite addition with bathroom, walk-in closet, and spacious Bedroom with vaulted ceiling. To connect the addition with the main house, we provided plenty of light and a built-in bookshelf with detailed pendant at the end of the hall. The clients' style was decidedly peaceful, so we created a wet-room with green glass tile, a door to a small private garden, and a large fir slider door from the bedroom to a spacious deck. We also used Yakisugi siding on the exterior, adding depth and warmth to the addition. Our clients love using the tub while looking out on their private paradise!
AssembledgeSet in Hancock Park, a historic residential enclave in central Los Angeles, the St. Andrews Accessory Dwelling Unit is designed in concert with an addition to the main house.
Richly colored, V-groove fiber cement panels provide a visual connection between the new two-story ADU and the existing 1916 craftsman bungalow. Yet, the ADU also expresses contemporary features through its distilled sculptural form. Clean lines and simple geometry emphasize the modern gestures while large windows and pocketing glass doors allow for plenty of natural light and connectivity to the exterior, producing a kind of courtyard in relation to the main home.
The compact size required an efficient approach. Downstairs, a kitchenette and living space give definition to an open floor plan. The upper level is reserved for a full bathroom and bedroom with vaulted ceilings. Polished concrete, white oak, and black granite enrich the interiors.
A primary suite addition to the main house blends seamlessly with the original. Hallway arches echo the original craftsman interior, connecting the existing living spaces to the lower addition which opens at ground level to the rear yard.
Together, the ADU, main house, and a newly constructed patio with a steel trellis create an indoor/outdoor ensemble. Warm and inviting project results from the careful balance of historical and contemporary, minimalist and eclectic.

Nakamoto ForestryFrom SinglePoint Design Build: “This project consisted of a full exterior removal and replacement of the siding, windows, doors, and roof. In so, the Architects OXB Studio, re-imagined the look of the home by changing the siding materials, creating privacy for the clients at their front entry, and making the expansive decks more usable. We added some beautiful cedar ceiling cladding on the interior as well as a full home solar with Tesla batteries. The Shou-sugi-ban siding is our favorite detail.
While the modern details were extremely important, waterproofing this home was of upmost importance given its proximity to the San Francisco Bay and the winds in this location. We used top of the line waterproofing professionals, consultants, techniques, and materials throughout this project. This project was also unique because the interior of the home was mostly finished so we had to build scaffolding with shrink wrap plastic around the entire 4 story home prior to pulling off all the exterior finishes.
