Since our client is a professional artist, we worked with her on a distinctive paver inlay as the final touch.
With strategic coordination and planning, Alderwood completed the project and created a result the homeowners now enjoy daily!
Boyce Design + BuildNew sunroom addition with a timeless Bluestone paver patio and outdoor kitchen and comfortable seating area. The limestone veneer outdoor kitchen features a Black Pearl honed granite countertop and houses a stainless-steel built-in grill with double access storage doors. A custom cedar pergola shades the outdoor kitchen island and sits atop a pair of matching limestone veneer columns with a privacy louvered cedar slat screen wall. The renovated backyard landscape design includes privacy screen trees, flowering shrubs, boulder garden groupings and a lush green lawn.
Great American LandscapesThe goal of this Bethesda Maryland property was to continue upgrading the backyard while also reflecting the family’s needs. The updated space now serves as a great spot for sports and gardening, making it more than just an outdoor area! The upgrades included leveling an area for a soccer field with bold walls, replacing the old patio and steps with a new flagstone patio, and installing a “Provence” style garden and stepping stones to connect all areas.
To add a touch of uniqueness, we opted for a checkerboard fire pit patio that is sure to impress guests. For the patio space near the house, we went with a wolf outdoor kitchen, updated plantings and the drainage (using natives and ornamentals) plus installed low-voltage lighting.
No property comes without its challenges. We had to deal with the significant rainfall uphill that created rivers crossing the property as well as the narrow access points to the backyard. The final product is a unique and upgraded space for the family to enjoy for years to come.

JRP Design & RemodelAfter many phases of a whole remodel and addition, our clients were delighted to get started on the exterior renovation. They once again secured the Design/Build services of JRP Design & Remodel to help them fully reimagine the exterior of their home, match the aesthetic of the interior, and add the amenities they had desired for years.
The existing landscaping was worn with a mix of grass, hedges, and a patio that was smaller than our clients wanted. The retaining walls and hillside were both in need of a major rework.
The JRP design team provided a new vision starting with a regrade of the hillside and new retaining walls further back into the hill, allowing room for a new pool/spa and entertaining space. A large outdoor kitchen and bar area fully equipped with a BBQ, prep sink, and beverage fridge was made to encourage conviviality. A new free-standing fireplace was added to enjoy evenings outside and the “spool“- a stunning focal point in this Spanish/Mediterranean feel backyard that brings a soothing ambiance to space.

YardDocYardDoc designed and created multiple rock landscapes for customers in Austin, TX. These drought resistant landscapes liven up your yard with unique designs and individual beauty. While we craft every landscape to the yard and customer, we present examples here to inspire you.
Working with the existing trees and plants, we built this landscape to match the wrought iron fence.
First, we placed a limestone barrier in a design reminiscent of a lake emptying into a river. Outside the retainer stone, we laid larger, red river rocks. On the inside we placed smaller, black rocks to highlight the rest of our modifications.
We built a stone fire pit in the center then crafted stone benches for seating around the campfire. We built a path our of large, flat stones that bring the different colors and textures together. Finally, we placed one last stone that, while decorative, can also be used as an end table, if necessary.
