WINN Design+Build

We engaged WINN for a significant renovation including a kitchen overhaul, carpentry, floors, electrical, venting, painting and built-ins throughout our house. We had a vision of what we wanted but worked well with their design team to get ideas and feedback. The project was challenged when our design coordinator left the firm late in the design phase, but they made sure the timeline was not impacted. The architectural team brought practical solutions to the plans considering how the house is structured and used. Our project manager, Conrad, was wonderful, being detail-oriented, flexible with details and ensuring subcontractors completed their work timely and accurately. When our hardwood floors were sanded and stained with the wrong color, they made sure the work was redone at the subcontractor's expense. Due to family issues, we needed to stay in the house throughout the renovation and Conrad made sure we only had to leave the house during the flooring work. Overall, we were happy with the process and thrilled with the results and would absolutely engage them for another project.

We added onto our 1938 Cape Cod style house in Arlington, Virginia to accommodate a three generation family of five. Winn Design did a great job incorporating the requests from all of us. For Gramma, me, there is a lovely first floor suite with a wide ADA compliant hall and a private bathroom. For my son and his wife there is a new bedroom with beautiful skylights and a master bath bath on the second floor and an art studio with lots of light in the basement. For the tween and teen granddaughters there are bedrooms for each of them and they only need to share a bath. For all of us there is now a large comfortable screened porch right off the kitchen. Everyone we worked with at Winn was pleasant and capable. The onsite supervisor kept us informed every work day by text and photographs about the progress being made and what to expect next. I couldn't be happier with our "new" house.

We worked with Winn Design+Build to renovate our 1927 home with a 2002 addition. The project involved a complete exterior renovation to improve the home's curb appeal, the addition of a screened porch, converting an existing room to a mudroom, and a kitchen renovation. We decided to work with the Winn team because of their experience renovating older homes while maintaining their historical character and appeal, and we are thrilled with how the project turned out. The Winn team was a pleasure to work with throughout. While there was some turnover in the team members assigned to our project, we consistently had the support we needed and felt lucky to be even more impressed by the new team (thank you, Lauren and Ken!). Winn was collaborative and always responsive to our questions and suggestions, including being willing to research a new siding material for our exterior that they had never worked with before that we all ended up loving. We lived in our home throughout the renovation and the Winn team made every effort to minimize the disruption to our daily lives and keep the work site as clean as possible. Everyone who worked on the project was kind and courteous, and all our neighbors noted this as well as the quality of the work. We are particularly grateful to have had the best possible project manager, Conrad, who ensured that everything ran smoothly and who we genuinely miss seeing every day!

We thought updating our 1960’s home with its many different additions and styles would be impossible, but Micheal Winn and his talented team did it beautifully. We wanted to update the kitchen, dining room/office, and a rear addition to match the midcentury style of the front of the house. WINN understood what we wanted better than other firms we interviewed and presented multiple options to achieve our goals. Once a design was selected, we appreciated the constant communication and collaboration throughout the process. Working with talented architects who listen to your ideas and provide honest feedback was an absolute highlight of the project for us. In the end, we now have a beautiful and cohesive house. WINN was able to open the adjoining rooms while creating clear definition to each space. Everywhere you can see and feel the excellent craftsmanship. The natural light that pours into the house is spectacular! The repurposing of an underutilized storage room at the back of the garage into a home office was a brilliant idea that brought exceptional value and a key room addition we never would have imagined. The WINN team gave us our dream house and we love living in it.

We worked with WINN Design on a renovation of our 100 year-old farmhouse and we have been very happy with the outcome. The renovation involved rehabbing the old part of the house, digging out a new basement, bumping out two additions and adding a self-standing garage: it was a very large and complex project. The result is beautiful! In planning the design, the WINN team -- and especially architect James Finn -- worked with us to maintain the charm of our old house, meet our new needs, and come up with solutions that helped make the most of our space. The team listened to our requests and incorporated them into the design and responded to our questions and ideas along the way. The team also helped find solutions in the design that would help us to stay within our budget constraints. We had a good, professional, building team behind the project that was reinforced by weekly meetings to discuss progress, raise issues, and find solutions to the inevitable problems that occur when working on an old house. Although we had a change in project manager early in the project, the transition was smooth and the new project manager brought considerable value-added given his experience. The Lead Builder (Paul Walhout) has great experience, was on site every day, contributed to and oversaw the work, and coordinated the wide range of sub-contractors involved. He was easy to work with and responsive to our queries. On the interiors, we received excellent support from Jennifer Hall in making choices on the myriad of details related to cabinets, plumbing fixtures, lighting, flooring and the like - a gazillion decisions to be made that were broken down into manageable chunks so that we could get it all done. The old and new parts of the house meld together beautifully. WINN also helped to get new siding from the manufacturer when the siding we received was not up to specification and, although it delayed the project, it was important that this be right. WINN also helped us get a deal on half-rounded gutters that would have been beyond our reach without their support. No project of this magnitude goes without a few hitches. The project took longer than anticipated, partly because of early delays in concrete delivery and partly because of some unanticipated issues that required additional framing in the old part of the house. Earlier communication of the actual end-date would have been helpful as we needed to find new housing arrangements. There was one sub-contractor who was not particularly responsive and resolution of that might have helped speed things up. Throughout the process when we raised specific issues and concerns, WINN was responsive. After many years of starts and stops, we are delighted to be in our beautiful “new, old house.” While the house is ready for the next 100 years, it retains its original charm, and we are grateful to WINN Design for helping us to achieve this goal. We’re happy to recommend WINN for projects such as ours.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience working with Winn. We did a major renovation, completely gutting the first floor of our 1950s Cape Cod, adding a second floor, and extending the floorplan by ~300 sq ft. We are incredibly pleased with the outcome. Winn provided high-quality construction throughout the build process. We loved the team's attention to detail, commitment to quality, and pride in their work. WINN Design+Build added a master suite and kitchen/dining addition to our 1940's cape cod in Falls Church. We interviewed several local companies, but we were most impressed with Michael Winn's honesty, vision, and commitment to high quality work. Michael's team was incredibly professional and responsive to our needs. We began the renovation in May 2020, with many unknowns about costs, permits, and supply during the pandemic. WINN Design remained steady during this unusual time. They pivoted to find materials from open factories and quickly transitioned to safety measures for the crew and our family. Stan created a design that beautifully married together the charm of our cape with the expansive space of the addition. Jennifer pieced together a kitchen that had brilliant design, and makes incredible sense for people who love cooking. She also found materials that exactly matched our vision, and within budget! Our master suite is a calming retreat we dreamed of, but didn’t know we could realize. Our lead carpenter, Conrad, cared deeply about excellent craftsmanship, and made sure the subcontractors produced solid work. Our family actually became quite attached to Conrad, who is as kind and steady as people come. We had a few moments where, due to the age of our house, some unexpected surprises happened. However, WINN Design did a great job of pivoting and helping us find affordable choices. Our project was projected at 12 weeks, and during Covid shutdowns it took 13 weeks. Incredible! We would highly recommend them to our friends and family, and anyone else who is interested in a high quality experience.

We can't say enough how thankful we are that we found WINN Design & Build. We are beyond happy with how our renovation turned out! From the initial dreaming/planning stages with Michael and Stan, to all the design sessions with Jennifer, through the building stages with Sean & Diego - the team at WINN provided excellent customer service, real professionalism and a high level of comfort to first time renovators. We knew from our first meeting with Michael that Winn Design+Build was going to be a great fit for our project. They really took the time to listen to our wants and needs for our first floor kitchen renovation. We were completely blown away by the design that Stan and Jen came up with - we never considered having two islands and that ended up being a perfect fit for the space and our lifestyle. After interviewing several firms for a sun room addition, I chose WINN because they really listened to our vision for the space, improved upon our ideas and respected the budget. The team working on our project took great pride in their work. They were attentive to details and able to make adjustments along the way to create a special sanctuary space that our whole family enjoys.

A major house project is a leap of faith. Most people (including me I hope) only go through it once in a life time. Part of what makes a major project daunting is the collection of horror stories one hears of projects gone wrong and/or lousy contractor experiences. My experience with Winn is that Winn understood how intimidating and personal and disruptive and at times frustrating a house project can be. They extended a large amount of professional patience while at the same time nudging us along the process. And when elements of the project hit snags (as they are apt to do), Winn listened to our comments and resolved the problems effectively. Of course, Winn's good qualities did not let me (as the ultimate project owner) off the hook to be an active participant in the whole life cycle of the project. But Winn was professional and responsive and delivered a quality product.

I cannot say enough about my experience with WINN. From the initial meeting with Michael to the final punch list, the project ran on-schedule, on-budget, and was high quality. This was a massive project for us; we remodeled ~60% of our 30-year-old home: kitchen, three bathrooms, re-purposed our living room, new floors, stairs, and railings, and so on. We first engaged with WINN in Feb 2018, and our construction ran from late Aug-Dec 2018. The original schedule called for 14 weeks (which we thought was a little ambitious), and it ended up taking 16 weeks - pretty darn close! I enjoyed working with my team - they were highly competent, responsive, clear experts in their trade, and pleasant to boot. In fact, I was recommending WINN to friends & neighbors even before the project was complete.

Winn Design+Build working with us created a plan, funding requirements and a strategy to move a very difficult project on time and within budget. We worked very closely with Houzz in identifying products and designs. At all times, we worked with a professional team at all levels of the organization - responsive, accountable, safe and clean. We would highly recommend.

We used Winn for a major house renovation that included a two story rear addition and other interior and exterior work. Stan and Jen on the design team were great: they listened to us, and helped us shape our project and choose the best products for our needs and wishes. On the production side, Sean and Paul were outstanding - they did an excellent job of executing our plans, and were extremely communicative and helpful during construction. Our project manager Paul was tremendous - a true craftsman who worked well with the subs, who was also a pleasure to have in our house every day (we stayed in the house during construction). Michael and Anne in the office were always helpful, and we found Winn's pricing competitive. We are very happy with the quality of the workmanship and finish. We would highly recommend them to anyone considering a renovation project.

The whole house renovation by Winn Design + Build turned out beautifully and far exceeded our expectations. The Winn team’s attention to detail and their commitment to customer satisfaction clearly show in the outstanding workmanship of our home. We purchased a bungalow built in 1925 in the Ashton Heights neighborhood of Arlington that was built by the last surviving World War I veteran in Arlington who lived to 102. Our desire was to maintain the bungalow design and footprint while modernizing the interior and exterior. This required a full renovation that included opening up the living space by moving walls and windows, installing new bathrooms and porches, and the design and construction of a contemporary kitchen that was relocated to a larger space. The Winn craftsmen were critical to restoration of the flooring as well as the trim that was site built to match the original trim throughout the house. The Winn team's professionalism and design and construction expertise resulted in our modern bungalow---full of light, amazing architectural details, and highly livable spaces. We definitely recommend Winn Design + Build for any project.

WINN Design Build helped us transform our 1950s cape cod into a modern house while still maintaining the character that we loved about our home. The scope of our project included a first floor addition with new kitchen, shed dormer and reconfiguration of the upstairs including a new master suite with new full bath. Michael and Stan helped guide us to make decisions we couldn’t be more pleased with including creating a master suite upstairs, opening up the kitchen to a large family room and creating a modern façade that married the exterior aesthetics with those of our interior. They worked with subcontractors who took workmanship as seriously as the WINN team members especially our lead carpenter, Paul. As this was our first home renovation, we wanted to find a company that we we could feel comfortable partnering with for the next several month. We knew we needed some extra hand holding during the process and thanks to a recommendation from our neighbor and friend, we found WINN Design Build. We had a positive experience working with the whole team on our home renovation; from Jen and Stan (design) to Paul, Sean 1 and 2 (construction) and Ann (administration and the friendly voice behind the phone) and Michael. They are a super fun group to work with and we are very happy we chose them. They became an extended family during the project and beyond. They captured our vision in their design and the quality craftsmanship of the work product exceeded our expectations. They have an excellent understanding of older homes, yet can provide a modern overlay to a basic house design. A great experience. Michael Winn and his staff were a pleasure to work with - very professional, responsive, timely, and stayed within budget. Our project involved replacing a cedar roof, replacing all windows, renovating and reconfiguring 3 bathrooms, and converting a screen porch into a sunroom. Jennifer, the bathroom designer, was very knowledgeable and had a good aesthetic sense. Diego, the lead carpenter, was very skilled and practical in his approach. Sean, the project manager, did an excellent job overseeing and coordinating work done by all the tradesmen. I would recommend Winn Design without hesitation. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Did a fantastic job. Everything looks wonderful. Our primary contact, Conrad, was amazing. Communication was never an issue. we had several change orders but never ran into any problems. The site was always kept very clean, which many other contractors in the neighborhood neglect to do. Costs were very transparent and the final project cost came in within the initial estimate given.

Winn Design and Build did an incredible job renovating our kitchen/living and dining room area. The design they created for our remodel matched our existing architectural style perfectly. They gave amazing attention to detail and were incredibly responsive throughout the whole project. Our project was the construction of an "in-law" house that included first floor living, a loft, and a full basement. The house had to fit the design of the main house, which was built during the Civil War. Additionally, the city required that the two houses be connected (i.e. breezeway). We came to Winn Design & Build after having worked several months with an architect who wasn't getting our vision of what we wanted in a home. After meeting once with the Winn team, we knew we had found our designer and builder. The team took the time to listen to our vision and needs and were always receptive to our ideas. Once construction started, Winn had two employees who were on-site every day; nothing happened without them knowing about it. We also had weekly meetings with the team; these meetings were invaluable in clarifying details, communicating timelines, and answering questions. The designer spent hours helping us select flooring, lights, plumbing fixtures, countertops, and cabinets; she was also very helpful in finding the best prices for the selections we made. All of the subcontractors were professional and their work was high quality. The construction was completed within the time that we were told, and we finished within budget. Winn uses an online project management program which was an invaluable tool for keeping track of timelines, documents, change orders, selections, and budget. Bottom line, we highly recommend Winn Design & Build - they are nice people who are very professional, creative, and competent.

We contacted Winn after reaching out to a neighbor whose home we admired. We were looking to update the facade of our home and take it from 1970s to a more classic look. Winn presented us with several options at different price points and worked with us patiently as we sorted through the choices. The actual remodeling process was very pleasant. They kept us in the loop the entire time, so that we knew what to expect, and we found each person to be courteous and professional, and easy to work with. I appreciated that they worked straight through to the end of the job, with interruptions only for weather. And, they checked in when there were heavy rains over the weekend, to make sure everything stayed dry. The house looks great! We are so glad we went ahead with this project. The details - finishes, painting, etc., are high quality and they were flexible as we changed scope a couple times. I would definitely recommend them.

My experience with WINN design and build has been exceptional. From the beginning with planning the design to the end of completion, all the employees I interacted with from WINN have been so helpful, easy to work with, and very professional. The process was so much easier than I expected and I know it is because of their organizational skills, reliability and open communication. My wife and I took over six months vetting eight different builders but we always felt Winn Design would be our choice and our instincts were right. Michael Winn and his team delivered on all commitments and we now have a beautiful new kitchen, bath and bedroom new addition and new deck as well as upgrades in other areas. The job was delivered two weeks earlier and right on the contract price that included several mutually agreed upon construction changes. From the design phase through construction, Michael Winn, Amy Finch architect,Sean de Launay, Production Manager, Conrad Johnson, on site supervisor and skilled carpenter, Jennifer Hall, color and fixture consultant were all professional helpful and caring individuals. Michael Winn is a man who obviously cares about his projects and the people he employs and his customers. The moral at Winn Design is high and at no time were we unable to get an answer to any question. The materials used on the job were as stated and the workmanship from all trades was excellent. In closing, Winn Design surpassed all our expectations and will always be our choice on any future projects.

Winn Design was great to work with from start to finish for the design and construction of my second floor addition. From the initial consultation, Michael discussed options that were available to address my project goals along with his professional perspective. We selected modular construction and the team was very responsive in addressing my questions and explaining the process. The creativity and experience of the team was invaluable throughout the design, selection, and construction process. My original home was built in the 1940's so some unexpected issues cropped up and the team was excellent in communicating and making sure we resolved things in a timely manner to keep the project moving forward. Winn took our 1935 two bedroom one bath and transformed it into a modern and beautiful four bedroom, 4 1/2 bath, complete with a home gym, and basement bar/lounge area. Their design didn't leave any wasted space, which was very important to us. The old living room turned into a spacious dining room and the addition on the back side of the house allowed for the large open kitchen connect directly with the new, open floor plan living room. The four bedrooms and three baths on the second floor were perfectly laid out and provide for very ample closet and bonus storage space. All of the craftsmanship and beautiful finishes throughout attest to the detail and professionalism of Winn design's entire crew. They weren't the cheapest, but the end product makes it more than worthwhile if your aiming for a high end look. We don't think we'd have been happy with anyone else. Thank you Winn!!!

We had a great experience working with the entire Winn Design team. They were flexible as to how we structured our project, came to the table with strong ideas of their own while still ensuring our vision for our home was fully realized. They brought in talented tradespeople who were efficient and detail oriented. And our construction manager was unquestionably among the best in the business - we'd recommend him to anyone and everyone. From Mike, the owner, to every member of his team, they ended up not only our designers/builders, but friends - good people. And most importantly, we are thrilled with the final results.

Winn Design did a fantastic job renovating our 50s brick rambler, working with a modular builder to give us a full second story with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a laundry room. Their architect created a beautiful design that gracefully integrated the new and old parts of the house. The entire team, including the owner, the project manager/lead carpenter, and all of the support staff, were highly skilled in their areas of expertise. They were always respectful of the fact that this is our home, and communicated clearly with us. They guided us judiciously when we had to make choices regarding materials or design, such as fixtures and floor colors, and we are very happy with the results. We would highly recommend them for any renovation, and would definitely use them again.

Mike and his team did a wonderful job transforming our kitchen/sunroom area into a light and airy, open concept area. This involved taking down the center wall and putting in a new iron beam to hold the house up, redoing the kitchen, and a complete reconstruction of the sunroom. The construction crew was great - respectful of our presence in the house, keeping the place as clean as possible, and protecting the landscaping outside. We're loving the end result!

We hired WINN Design+Build for a complete (gut job) re-do of our kitchen/dining room, master bathroom, and mudroom. This included gutting the existing kitchen, tearing down the wall between the kitchen and dining room for a more open space, a COMPLETE gut job of the master bathroom, new flooring throughout those rooms, and installing a new kitchen (granite, cabinets, appliances, recessed lighting) and new bathroom (everything new). They also re-did our mudroom, including new cabinets and new flooring. And, once completed, there was new paint and the work areas professionally cleaned. From the on-site employees to the design team to their operations department, everyone was first class, easily accessible and easy-to-work with. Most important to us, in our initial meeting we were given a price and a time frame -- and we were very pleased that WINN met both. Their use of BuilderTREND made everything simple and easy-to-understand for a novice home renovator (which includes both me and my wife). We especially appreciated Jennifer Hall, our design associate, who took the time to walk us through the different design approaches, meetings with appliance, tile, etc. vendors, and took the lead with the overall design theme. She was extremely patient with us, as we had a lot of questions. In addition, we were very happy that WINN assigned a main general contractor who was on-site every day to oversee the entire project. Kevin Goralski, and the operations manager Rik, did a tremendous job maintaining the site, keeping it clean and organized, answering our questions along the way, and even pointing out/offering suggestions as minor issues arose. (It was pretty impressive that even during some of the bad snowfalls and accompanying bad roads we had in the DC area this winter, Kevin and his crew still made their way to the house to keep us on-time.) One note for those looking to renovate major areas of their home -- we did not stay in the house for most of the construction, choosing to rent a small apartment nearby. If your budget allows for it, we'd recommend it -- especially if you have small children as we do. (Outside of some dusty days during drywall, staying in our home during the renovation would have probably worked OK if not for our child, as the work site was cleaned daily.) Overall, WINN Design+Build a terrific job and we are very happy we hired them for this project. Most importantly for us, they kept the trains running on time -- keeping the project on-time and on-budget. We would recommend them to anyone looking to renovate their home, without hesitation.

We hired Winn Design to build us some bookshelves around our fireplace. They were prompt, honest, on time and on budget - something difficult to find these days. We are very pleased with the outcome and would consider hiring them again when we have another renovation.

Winn Design completed a major series of projects for us, including the construction of a front porch roof, patio deck and spa hookup, and major kitchen renovation. All projects were completed professionally and in accordance with the budget established. I found the contruction teams to be polite, efficient, and they did a great job of containing dust, cleaning up daily, and following up on issues raised. I give Winn Design my highest recommendation, and would recommend them to anyone contemplating home improvement work of any kind. 5-STAR CONTRACTOR!

We absolutely loved working with Winn Design! Michael Winn and his team delivered exactly as promised when replacing our cantilevered balcony, 12' sliding glass door, and multiple windows. The job involved removing a dilapidated, 57-year old wooden, cantilevered balcony with a wrought iron railing and replacing it with a balcony of steel beams, Brazilian ipe, and a cable railing. Due to the cantilever, they had to completely remove the ceiling in our recreation room to take out the old wooden support beams and replace with the steel i-beams. The 12' sliding door (two 6' panels) was replaced with a Marvin 4-panel French door. When they removed the old door they discovered a 3/4" deflection in the original wooden header which necessitated the installation of a steel i-beam header They also replaced the original, single-pane aluminum frame windows with energy efficient Marvin Integrity windows. The results were everything we had hoped for when we started thinking about the project. From start to finish the Winn Design team was professional, courteous, and competent. The job was completed on schedule and on-budget. The workmen were respectful and took great care in protecting our home and furnishings during the construction process. The team took care to keep us well-informed and communication was timely and accurate. The bottom line is that we would recommend Winn Design to family, friends, and neighbors without any reservation or hesitation.

This is my third contract with Winn Design & Build and I will consider them for future projects. Working within tight budgetary and scheduling guidelines they were able to provide exactly what was designed on time even taking into consideration some additions and change orders initiated by me. All staff is very professional and easy to work with and the level of craftsmanship is first rate. I have extensive history and experience with the building trades as I once co-owned an architectural millwork business in the 1980's in Fairfax VA, and have owned and managed my own industry-related business of importing and distributing Austrian-made woodworking machinery to small, medium and large companies across the US since 1984. I am also enjoy woodworking and design as a hobby.

We love our "new" house! The folks from Winn guided us every step of the way -- from initial remodel design to choosing finishes to execution. We really appreciated Dwain and Rik and their oversight of quality control and suggestions for modifications along the way. They were very professional at all times and conveyed that their mission was to produce a beautiful high quality product that we would be happy with. I especially appreciated Dwain's advice on modifying paint trim color and his willingness to stop work while my husband and I reassessed which color we wanted. Dwain was always cheerful and positive! We would recommend Winn Design to our friends and neighbors.

We can't say enough good things about Michael and his team. Each person who touched the project was professional, responsive, and hard working. They were creative in their solutions and worked hard to accommodate each request. Negotiating through unexpected issues, while always difficult, was achieved through active and frequent communication and was done successfully and professionally! We chose to do several projects all at once including a kitchen renovation, conversion of current kitchen to mud room, lining up door frames, front porch addition, side entrance, new roof, driveway and flagstone walk, exterior painting, and window relocation. Our home looks beautiful thanks to Winn Design and we will enjoy it for years to come. Hire them and you won't be disappointed!

Winn did a kitchen and dining room remodel for us, which was basically the entire first floor. We checked with several other companies, and Winn had the best overall design ideas for our space. Project length was exactly as specified. The project manager and lead carpenter kept everything on track and regularly discussed issues with us. The only area that could be improved was overall cost. Although the project did not remain within our originally specified budget, we accepted the project as offered and Winn did a great job keeping the project to that specified cost despite some added changes that weren't found until demolition was complete. Highly recommend the company. They made our kitchen a dream!

We had Winn design and construct a family room and detached two car garage for our home. They are second to none in terms of workmanship and attention to detail, which was at the top of our list in selecting a contractor. On top of that, they are a pleasure to deal with and are very responsive in staying with you throughout the process. They took our requests seriously, but also came to the table with creative ideas for our new space. I can't say enough positive things about our experience.

We hired Winn Design to do an entire house remodel. We added a small addition, gutted all four bathrooms in our home, re-did the kitchen, dining room, family room and basement. Winn worked with us through the entire process, starting with design plans and drawings. They helped us with selections throughout the house. This task could have been overwhelming but they made the process much easier. We were happy with the work as it progressed. They stayed within the time line allocated which was important since we had moved out our home for the remodel. I think one of the best things Winn did was when problems arose (they will arise in any remodel) they worked with us to find solutions.

Hired to complete basement rehab of an older home (1930s). Positives: - Great team of professionals, from start to finish - Did not push high cost finishes, products, but happily accommodated when chosen - Provided helpful alternative solutions to our original plan (better lighting, air conditioning, etc) - High quality results - Willingness to readdress areas of concern (we had an existing wall that should have been refinished and wasn't noticed until final walkthrough) Only negative is more of a suggestion: make use of the online message board system so that working couples can post questions and gain responses after hours.

Beautiful workmanship on the portico and walkway. Mike Winn worked with us to make sure that we had the design we wanted. The outcome enhances our home tremendously. We have received numerous compliments and we love the result.

We had a terrific experience with Winn Design. We did a redo of our kitchen - new floors, countertops, lighting, windows and slider. The project started the Thursday after Thanksgiving 2011 - my husband was very skeptical that the project was going to be done before Christmas. Everything, but the windows was done by December 20 (3 weeks later). The workers were courteous - everyone we dealt with was professional - I never felt like my rather small job was too small for them. I worked with one of the designers who was great helping me pick materials and pull things together. Our on site person and the project manager were great as well. The whole team was good about staying in touch and giving us updates. I liked that they did not start the work until everything (except the windows) was on site. It was my decision to do all the work before the windows came. I would not hesitate using them again. One year later I still love my kitchen.

We have used Winn Design on two different occasions. The first, in 2007, was a project to replace the exterior doors, windows, and siding of our 1969 ranch house. As part of the project, we added a natural wood portico to the front entrance. More than 5 years later we still have people stop to take pictures and ask us who has done the construction. In 2010 we contracted again with Winn to extend and completely remodel our kitchen. As this was our first experience with a project of this size, the design process was very daunting. However, Winn patiently worked with us over a few months through many revisions until we had a design that fit our needs and budget. During construction we went on vacation and the project manager sent us pictures and summaries on almost a daily basis so that we could keep up with the progress of the project. As the different trades came to the project we were impressed by the quality of the subcontractors Winn used. Several trades mentioned that Winn was one of their favorite companies to work with. Happy and skilled subcontractors are also key to a successful project! Renovations can be very intimidating and stressful on a marriage. We are very grateful that Winn, through their professionalism and quality of work, made the process as pleasant and successful as we might have hoped for. Now, with more than 2 years behind us, we know that we made the right choice to use them. There are many contractor horror stories out there, but you won’t have one with Winn.
