Karenna Wilford Architects Ltd
Bioconstrucción en Birling Gap, East Sussex, UK
Puntuación media: 5 de 5 estrellas4 de noviembre de 2017
“We were very pleased when Karenna Wilford Architects were recommended to us for our cottage extension and refurbishment. Karenna has been like a breath of fresh air to us. She is reliable, professional and very pleasant to work with. She worked closely with us to give us not only just what we wanted but also made valuable suggestions which proved to be a large benefit to the final scheme. KWA project managed all the building works as we had very specific requirements and wanted to use specialised contractors. They were very efficient and KWA kept us well informed of the impact some of the design decisions would have on our budget! We love our new home and can thoroughly recommend Karenna and her team.”
Charles Barclay Architects

“Charles Barclays and his team are simply outstanding and we would recommend them any day. We bought a house that required a complete renovation. CBA made a "bold plan" proposal which we loved at first sight. They tailored it successfully to our needs (children zones, continental taste, etc.). They led the full project from beginning to end, starting from securing planning, tenders and managing a contractor and all third party professionals. At the same time we felt very involved and understood. We feel that the end result reflects exactly what we had dreamt, only in better. With CBA there are no problems, only solutions. Charles Barclays and his team (and particularly Alessandro Pena with whom we worked) are as top notch and professional as it gets. His team is passionate and extremely talented. The team is very resourceful and knowledgeable and could always advise us to keep the project going. For every question they always proposed concrete solutions at reasonable prices without ever compromising on quality. Charles has an impressive mastery of space, light and structures, and offers options that certainly gives a "wow" effect hoped for with an architect. For example, in our project CBA proposed to create double height ceilings surrounded by impressive windows and a rooftop light. That way, CBA managed to transform a dark garage into a majestic and very bright living space. Another example was to switch the parking space with the garden, and so creating a continuous flow between the house, the garden and the patio. The team is very dedicated and passionate and helped us through the whole process (email progress updates with key decision points, detailed timetables etc), from sourcing the floors to choosing the bathroom knobs. They have a strong list of quality/upscale suppliers. The close collaboration between CBA and the builders led to a finalised project that was on time, on budget and with absolutely no headache at all.”

“What we first loved about Mark's designs was their imagination and vision. The extension he designed for us was on a very difficult site and he immediately came up with all kinds of adventurous solutions. In the end we simply could not afford the optimum version, but he was able to adapt the original design to be closer to our budget and the final result is a huge success, greatly admired by everyone who sees it.”

Brian Hoolahan Architect

“Brian Hoolahan acted as our principal architect as we embarked on our project to replace our harbour fronted home in Chichester. The location of the property was particularly sensitive as it is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our brief was for Brian’s practice to design a family home using traditional materials whilst at the same time satisfying some of the highest environmental standards with respect to energy efficiency and material sourcing - including ground source heating and significant reliance of a sustainably sourced oak structure as an alternative to steel. Further, as a resident of Bosham we very much required that our new home was to be sympathetic towards the local environment, being close to Bosham village and its grade 1 listed Anglican church. Brian led all aspects of the design and planning approval process - which included satisfying the requirements of the District and Parish counsils as well as other authorities, including Chichester Harbour Conservancy. Following planning approval, Brian, through his construction company, Harbour Contractors, project managed the build covering all aspects of compliance and certification addressing architectural matters as they arose. We were delighted in choosing Brian’s organisation for our project and were able to benefit from his many years of professional experience as well as his deep architectural knowledge, having developed many projects throughout West Sussex.”

“SCD stealthily plugged into my vision for the property and were able to expand upon and develop exactly the kind of style I was seeking to achieve. SCD's enthusiasm, commitment and attention to detail drove the project forward from start to finish. SCD's work encompassed such a huge variety of tasks: from obtaining planning and building control permission, co-ordinating structural engineers and party wall surveyors, producing an array of technical drawings, to scrutinising paint/tile/fabric samples, selecting furniture and managing the work of the builders and the contract. Their contribution, at every stage and in every aspect, was never less than brilliant. And there is absolutely no doubt that, without them, I would not be in such a magnificent property. When it comes to my next project, be it commercial or residential, there is no question that they will be the first on board.”

“Nimtim were asked to help with a total refurb of a 1 bedroom Victorian flat. A collaborative process between owner and architect resulted in an open plan design maximising space, whilst respecting the character of the property. They were able to translate my ideas and expand on it, further improving the idea. Nimtim oversaw tendering and the subsequent works in a professional way, keeping the project on budget and time. The whole journey was enjoyable and with an amazing home at the end!”

“We partnered with CDMS on a full restoration of a previous unloved Regency home in Brighton. The unique walk in larder, clad in a liquid bronze finish, really shows their ability to create unique, ambitious design whilst retaining the beauty of a period home. The bathroom is elegant with a touch of industrial and remains one of our most saved images on our Houzz profile. The project can be viewed here; http://www.houzz.co.uk/projects/2123014/clifton-hill-conservation-area-grade-ii-listed”
designcubed

“We engaged Designcubed to design an extension to our house in 2014. This was an important project for us and having had difficult experiences on previous building projects we had a degree of trepidation as well as the usual budget constraints. Stephen helped us enormously by helping us decide what was most important to us and to suggest solutions that would not have occurred to us. His support during the tendering prices and in the initial meetings with the builder also helped us feel more confident in our decision making. As the project progressed, we identified new requirements and the builder identified constraints, Stephen was receptive and flexible and able to adapt the design where we all agreed it made sense. The positive and constructive relationship Stephen had with the builder was a great help in making sure it all went smoothly. We have been delighted with our extension since it was completed in 2015 and the time Designcubed spent with us making sure we knew what we wanted and what that would look like was crucial to that success”
