too much wood?

i like this irregular vertical siding
like the color of the upper floor, and kinda like the overall look

kinda like this wood, but judiciously used, and may be too much with the wood ceiling that extends to the exterior
don't love the weathered gray of the wood... same house as latter picture (back side)
i don't love this look and I'm worried vertical siding--whether board and batten or otherwise--is going to end up looking like this

because of the bold color, this board and batten looks kinda cool
this irregular horizontal siding looks good
i like this irregular horizontal siding, and color isn't bad either (with dark aluminum windows and darker ceiling wood stain)
not sure about this, and want to maybe avoid this
too much wood?
