Food played a big role in Adamik's upbringing, and today continues to influence his daily life as the primary chef of the house. So when it came time to design their kitchen, he forged a plan to make the space practical without compromising his creative perspective.
Although the general layout of the galley remains intact, as do the cabinets -"They weren't very old," he describes - Adamik designed a five-foot-high wall to close in most of the island. Previously open to the rest of the living space, the island limited furniture placement, among other issues. The height of the new wall is ideal for concealing used pots and pans from guests' view, yet permits interaction when entertaining.
