“We have a house and an acre of land in Metchosin, BC. It is a semi-rural part of Victoria so very lush, green and always growing! As we have not yet moved there full time, the garden was getting ahead of us and we were completely overwhelmed with the amount of work and at a loss for any ideas to get it under control and looking good. I went to a neighbourhood Garden Centre and basically said: "I need help" and they gave me Theresa Balak's card. I was ever so grateful! Theresa came over,to see us and we talked about what we envisioned, our lifestyle and our ideas and wishes for plants and the overall look we had in mind. She took measurements, created comprehensive drawings of the dream and gave us hope that we could find a solution that worked for us - easy care, drought and deer resistant and beautiful. She recommended three possible landscapers as well. Her flexibility and yet clear direction for neophyte gardeners was so appreciated. Her design and the landscaping of Natural Solutions has turned out out-of-control front yard into a beautiful display. (I am sure our neighbours are thankful and the deer travel through it with rarely a sniff or a nibble!) Thanks so much, Theresa!!”

“My husband and I bought a home prior to completion and were given the opportunity to completely design the yard from beginning phase– in essence a blank, dirt canvass. We hired Melissa Baron to design a landscape for our property that would complement and enhance the extensive renovation on our mid-century home, moving it towards a more modern feel. Melissa was very easy to work with from the beginning. She brought great ideas but also listened to our wants and needs for the project and was able to really define and create a vision for the space. Melissa was professional and responsive throughout. She acted as not only the designer but also as project manager. There were various elements, subcontractors and tradesmen on site that Melissa was able to coordinate and liaise with. The planting process was very intricate and required much planning and careful consideration based on our desire to have something low maintenance, but also private. Melissa has an incredible knowledge of plants and the different environments that they should be placed in to allow for optimal growth. Our yard transformation was absolutely incredible. Melissa was able to conceptualize an amazing space for our family all while keeping things in-line with our budget and dealing with various time constraints. “We have worked with Mary for a while now and she does great work. She is very customer orientated, she shows up on time and stays until the job is done. It's not very often you find designers willing to get their hands dirty, but I continuously see Mary working in the dirt oftentimes weeding gardens that weren't part of the job. We know that whenever she calls us the job is going to be organized, well run and with happy customers. We recommend her highly.”

“We had seen several examples of Larry Myers' work and knew that his clients were thrilled with the results, so we hired Alfresco Living Design to design and landscape our city property to provide privacy while at the same time making it an airy and beautiful space. He succeeded brilliantly. He makes it all work for several important reasons that earn him a five star rating: 1. He has an outstanding sense of design, offering truly unique concepts that are refreshing and tasteful. 2. He knows what trees and plants to use not just for how they will look but also how they will react to site specific weather and soil conditions. 3. He worked with us to really understand what was wanted and then to our delight exceeded our expectations. 4. He respects a budget (you can always do more, spend more) finding innovative ways to get the best results for the buck. 5. He is a great listener and a thoughtful, considerate and humble person who doesn't let his prodigious talent turn into ego. And a bonus; if needed, he can design and fabricate supporting structures in wood, concrete or other material as part of the design process as he did for us. Larry Myers and Alfresco Living Design well deserve a five star rating.”
