“I asked Paola to provide a design for remodeling my bathroom with the goal of replacing the tub with a shower. My only request was that she retain my Mexican hand-painted ceramic sink. As the room is only 5 X 7, she had quite a challenge to update the room, giving an impression of more space, on a very small budget. Her design was perfect. All the materials to be used were low cost but did not look low cost. The finished product was well within my budget and looks great. I get many very positive reactions from family and friends. It is very impressive.”

“My wife and I just completed a project with interior designer, Andrea Houck, president of A. Houck Designs. We were very happy with the end result of our living room, dining room, foyer, and kitchen breakfast nook. This was the first time that we had used an interior designer and Andrea was able to easily answer all of our questions and guide us through the entire process from design concept through installation. After initially speaking with us and finding out what we did and didn’t like, she was able to help us define our style and presented us with a number of different options for each room that we were able to refine and choose from. She also helped us to pick a unique color palette that coordinated from room to room and, importantly, easily fit with the rest of our existing home. “Planning for my later years with increasing physical diminishment, I used the building and design team of FAIRFAX DESIGN SOLUTIONS (Martha Fecteau and Sam Scott)) to undertake an extensive ‘Aging in Place’ remodel of my cherished home of 43 years. The remodel includes an additional powder room on main floor, creating a large master bedroom by removing a wall between 2 bedrooms, creating a large, extraordinary master bath with a 5x6 curb-less shower that includes a folding teak bench, moving W/D from basement up next to bedroom, and creating a beautiful office with built in cabinets in the old dining room. All suggested ADA/ fall prevention improvements were incorporated. Both Martha and Sam were terrific to work with. They drew on years of experience and collaboration, pulling together tremendous skill and craftsmanship in the design and execution of the project. They creatively grappled with modifications provoked by the nature of my 1955 house. They both have steady, calming personas.They were incredibly patient and accommodating to health challenges of my own during construction. Martha brought all products to me to choose from, saving me a lot of time and energy. Sam was on the project everyday — either managing the skilled laborers he brought in to do the plumbing, electricity, dry wall, tiling, etc. or crafting himself some beautiful, original wainscoting to dress up the new hallway. Martha and Sam’s reassuring skill, creativity, thoughtfulness and integrity made the remodel a blessing in every way. Marilu, McLean, VA”

“I recently downsized from a 3476 square foot to a 1598 square foot townhouse. Much of the furniture that I had was too big for the smaller house. The new house is not really new so it needed a lot of help. Under Julie's direction, walls and ceilings were painted first which made a big difference. She kept budget in mind by keeping several pieces of furniture that I already had and updating others. For my dining room set, she recovered the seat cushions with fabric to go with the new paint colors and added a bench to one side to allow more walking room. She kept a book with all the ideas and plans for my place which was so helpful. She spent a lot of time to go over ideas with me and kept looking until she found what worked. Her contractors and vendors are all wonderful - she is very particular in that regard. I love the pieces she chose for my house and the overall design. She has completely changed the look of my house. It finally feels like home. There are so many rooms to show that I need to upload some before and after pictures soon so you can see for yourself what an amazing job she did for me. I strongly suggest stopping by her store in Ashburn, VA. It's a treat just to walk around all the rooms and check out the furnishings and accessories. Plus you can meet Julie and her staff while you're there. You will love it!”

“Donna is a brilliant interior designer. She took the time to get to know me as a person and "get my vibe". We discussed, in general terms, the style I was after, and the budget I had (and mine was pretty limited). I spent only 7 hours with her and with that was able to beautifully decorate a 2 bedroom apartment. She looked at every room and had many suggestions to make, each one enhancing the design and beauty of the decor. We went online and looked at furniture, and her suggestions were right on. She had incredible insights into color, line, style, placement, and overall "feel" of the room. She was a joy to work with and was able to provide the kind of "value added" that I couldn't have done on my own. I highly recommend Donna's services.”
