“Our experience with Caryn Paradis was excellent from start to finish. We had an unfinished basement that we wanted to finish and didn't know where to begin. Caryn talked with us in detail about how we wanted to use our basement and then came up with plans that included all of our needs as well as ideas that we hadn't even considered but should have. She was able to design a space that incorporated areas for everyone in our family, including our young son--even a stage that could be pulled apart for use as couches when he becomes a teenager! Because we live in separate states, Caryn was able to do much of the work remotely with minimal visits to our home to take measurements, etc. She had finish samples sent directly to us quickly and walked us through the decision making process. She designed specific requests, such as a fireplace for my husband and a guest room/office area. Caryn paid attention not only to the aesthetics of the job, but also the practicalities, such as outlet placement and HVAC. She also included amenities such as a well-placed dorm fridge which will come in handy when our son is old enough to use the space as a hang-out with friends. All in all, the job was smooth, well-designed and surprisingly painless. Caryn listened to our needs and then exceeded them. We would recommend her without reservation.”

“Chantal Lawrence is the owner of Total Design Source. Some years ago we collaborated on the many ideas that I had been mulling over for my house renovation. Chantal worked with me to take all of these undefined ideas and turn them into a real plan and a fairly major renovation of the kitchen, dining room, expanded living area and garage. She is knowledgeable, professional, compassionate and very creative. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for anything from a complete renovation to just a refreshing of your space. I first met Chantal some years ago when I was designing the addition to my house, an antique reproduction cape with a variety of roof line intricacies. Through conversations of needs, wants, form and function, Chantal took my scribbles and ideas and designed a beautiful renovation project which I have enjoyed for some years. Most recently, I was commenting on the need to freshen up and make some changes with a little art and color. Chantal spent all day with me on Sunday strategizing, moving, tweaking, planning until the house looked fresh and new. Much of this was accomplished with many of my own items, just moved or re-functioned to make a more inviting home. Some of it was some new art to complement what was already there but enable the colors of the room to pop! I cannot speak highly enough of Chantal and Total Design Source. Her knowledge of color, design, functionality, access to the very best work rooms from fabric to metal and anywhere in between is phenomenal. “I had a flood in my house and the whole 4,400 SF had to be gutted. I had to rebuild the whole house from scratch. I met Sue Kelly through word of mouth and when I met her, I was impressed by her professional and easy going demeanor. I knew this was going to be a long and arduous process, but Sue was very patient. Sue also has a keen eye for design and has a world of knowledge. She is also very meticulous about keeping up with the latest trends. We ended up doing 5 bathrooms (2 of which was entered into the Hamptons Design Competition), 5 Bedrooms, Kitchen, all flooring, color scheme, media room, trim work, window treatments, lighting, staging, etc., etc. The outcome was truly spectacular. Everyone that has seen the before and after could not believe it was the same house. Sue made this whole process easy and seamless. She is a delight to work with and I would recommend her to anyone.”

“A review of this kind is very difficult, especially when trying to describe the person in whom you placed your trust to undertake a “down to the studs” renovation in East Hampton. Here is a bullet point list of what we considered to be the critical aspects of our experience: •It began with a brilliant visualization the whole project, where Mark had to integrate and combine both the practical needs and personal esthetic of my wife and I. •Mark established a wonderful relationship with the architect and contractor(s) on day one, and maintained that positive environment throughout the entire project truly minimizing friction and maximizing efficiency. •Somehow, incredibly, this man remained completely on top of the zillion details (major and minor), never losing sight of the timing of anything. •He provided us a realistic budget at the outset, and never strayed from it - remarkable. Also, and this is really a kind of genius, Mark always found ways to get us the most “bang for the buck” which may seem a little trite on the surface, but was greatly appreciated by us because the result of this practice frequently propped the budget doors open a little wider. •Over the course of the project we came to trust Mark more and more, frequently allowing him to nudge us outside our “comfort zone” when he felt that was necessary, because he hit a winner we could not have visualized ourselves each and every time. In Summary: Mark hit it out of the park creating our dream environment, within budget, and on time. Nothing short of incredible, he imagined and created a space that we both love, and love to live in. We recommend him with the highest possible praise.”
