“We had no prior relationship with Oakwood, but were impressed with the quality of staff that we dealt with, from the first contact through to the finished renovation. We needed a variance to be allowed to obtain the proper permits and John Liptak, owner of Oakwood was instrumental in obtaining this on our behalf. Without his personal interest in our renovation, we would not have proceeded with the project. John also gave us the benefit of his years of experience with various suggestions for our room. Our design specialist was wonderful, offering many unique ideas for us to consider, always offering various solutions to meet our budget. We particularly love the windows and paneling in our great room. The quality of the work was top notch. The wood craftsman assigned to our project did an exceptional job on the ceiling beams and the paneling. Dave’s work makes this room so beautiful and unique. The project manager was very knowledgeable and worked on our behalf to make sure that all the little details were dealt with to our satisfaction. Trent was very responsive to our needs and concerns. We can speak to Oakwood’s integrity and professionalism. They wanted the addition to be a room that we would be take pleasure and pride in for many years to come. We truly marvel at the room each day when we enter it. We are very satisfied with our experience and relationship with Oakwood.”

“I consulted Paul Denys about a bathroom renovation project and he provided good advice, a number of options and a general cost estimate. He was knowledgeable and his approach was conversational and low-key. Subsequently, Paul and his apprentice redid a ceiling at my home. Their work was excellent, with a new ceiling and moulding that is harmonious with the rest of the house. The decision relating to the moulding was collaborative. The cost and time to do the work were within the estimated range and I am very satisfied with the result.”

“JBR gutted and redid my kitchen in Nepean. Their crew was respectful and efficient. They got the entire renovation done within my budget and timeline, being sure to leave me without a working kitchen for as little time as possible. I will be rehiring them for future projects.”

“We found in particular that Moneca was really wonderful at listening to us and to how we use our home and backyard. This was reflected in the ideas she generated for us. We thought we'd already explored all the possibilities for making our 2 bedroom house work for our family of 4, but Moneca had some great new insight and ideas we hadn't considered for renos, and/or for us to be able to make do without heavy renos. We're still not sure which path we're going to take, but I have to say that for the design aspect, although we'd already talked with about a dozen different design/ build companies in the last three years, Moneca re-imagined our space within an hour of being in our home, in ways no one else nor us had thought about before. She's also great at 'sourcing' furniture, materials, etc., and afterwards she made us a pinterest board with things she'd pulled together for our backyard, which was really lovely and helpful. And as I'd talked about our porcelain tile floor being too hard of a surface in our living room, she sourced us a lovely and elegant floating cork click tile.”

“We worked with Suzanne Martin of Luxurious Living Studio and Mike Martin of Luxury Renovations/Luxurious Living Studio, from January 2012 to February 2013. As a team, they brought our dreams of a comfortable, liveable basement to life. In fact, when the project was compelete, we felt that our space was so 'luxurious' that we had to refer to it as our 'Level One' - 'basement' just didn't seem to capture the feeling!! Suzanne worked with us from beginning to end, drawing out our creative responses to the design challenges inherent in a below ground project. The space had never been properly insulated so the project took us 'right back to the cement walls' and went forward from there. We were so impressed with Mike's ability to coordinate all of the skilled trades involved in our project. It truly is a balancing act, from which we simply stood back and admired. We realize that we were not their only project; however, they made us feel that they genuinely cared about the success of the project and wanted to be sure we were happy with the results. This sometimes meant going back over the design of some aspect of our project, or insuring a particular trade carried out their part according to the high standards set and maintained by both Mike and Suzanne. There are photos of our project (on the Luxurious Living's Houzz account), if you wish to have a look at the results - look under the Basement category and watch for the curved orange bulkhead and the stair platform shaped like the prow of a boat!! We began the whole process in January 2012, when we first met with Suzanne to talk about our hopes for our basement renovation. Construction began in June 2012 and by December 2012, was about 85% to 90% complete. After Christmas, some final millwork and details were complete and we just recently had all of our neighbours in for the Level One Reveal, to show off the fruits of the labour of our 'team': Suzanne and Mike Martin; Luxurious Living Studio and Luxury Renovations. Cheers”
