“Creating a dream home is both dreamy and stressful. My family and I have had the honor and privilege of getting to work with one of the most talented architects on the planet - not once but twice. Stephen made both dreamy! Our first creation? A from the ground up Africa-inspired retreat in Kennebunkport, Maine on our family compound called Asante Sana ( Sensitive Information Hidden ). Just this morning, I was singing Steve’s praises for his architectural prowess. Our second project: a complete renovation of our home in Sea Cliff, San Francisco ( Sensitive Information Hidden ). Originally architect, Joseph Esherick would be proud. We even named one of our walls at Casa al Mare, the Barlow Wall - in Steve’s honor. I wish everyone would have the privilege of hiring Steve Barlow! When you hire the right architect you get 1 + 1 = 12.”

There was a culture of sensitivity to our needs throughout the firm and skillful handling of issues as they inevitably cropped up. The firm worked with our century old house to bring it into the modern age, by retrofitting an amazing kitchen into limited space and converting an unusable attic space into a dream master bedroom suite with dormers, increasing our living space significantly. “Foster Architecture does beautiful and well-conceived work. His approach to problem solving is both professional and calm. My project was a renovation of a 1970’s builder’s contemporary that was visually disorganized inside and out. Foster re-organized and balanced the spaces, completely transforming the interior and exterior with small aesthetic changes throughout, while integrating the building into the surrounding land, giving the house an up-to-date 21st Century look and quality. Foster’s knowledge of the aesthetic use of materials is comprehensive and creative. I highly recommend his work and look forward to working with him again in the future.”

“Robie is terrific. We interviewed quite a few architects for this job. Many had great ideas and beautiful plans though they were double our budget. Robie stuck to the budget and came up with lots of great ideas. He was very flexible and creative. We'd use him again in a heartbeat!!!! “Boaz Golani, principal of BMG Design/Build designed and project managed an extensive renovation of our 1920s Tudor-revival house, focussing on kitchen and bathroom. The work required fully demolishing the spaces, to the studs, replacing wiring and plumbing, and executing a redesign which was true to the period details of the house, but kicked the whole place up a couple of levels in convenience and elegance. Golani was brilliant in his aesthetic and practical creative problem solving. He sourced and managed fine craftsmen, and was onsite everyday, keeping the job on time and budget. Few clients are as fortunate as we were in achieving all and more than we expected without any pains except the inevitable one of writing checks.”

“I hired ROAM Design to design an addition of a family room to my home. In doing so, I wanted to maximize the current space I had, add the room and update my kitchen to make the space family friendly, open and comfortable. In planning the addition, Amy met frequently with my husband and I to get an understanding of what we wanted. She offered suggestions and options, always mindful of our budget and preferences. Her drawings were detailed and thorough, which enabled us to visualize the addition and helped our contractor price the work for us. Amy was always available and responsive to our questions and needs. Her fee was fair and she was upfront and honest regarding all costs. My husband and I were extremely pleased with all aspects of the work ROAM Design did for us and would highly recommend them. Amy went beyond her responsibility as our architecture in communicating with our contractor and providing suggestions to us. She is very detail-oriented and the details she incorporated into our addition are what makes it so special.In addition to adding value to our home, we love our addition and the opportunities it has afforded my family as a place to comfortably relax, spend time together and entertain.”
