“After having seen several projects, residential and commercial, McLelland Architecture had completed, we decided to go with the expertise of Jon McLelland. What attracted me most were innovative ideas, an interest in sustainability and LEED, and the proven talent to combine older historical buildings with a touch of modern. We received expert drawings, as well as great recommendations for our residential kitchen remodel, a major undertaking in an older home that required the removal of load bearing walls and complete reconfiguration of the space. McLelland Architecture provided fantastic services, and we would hire them again in a heart beat - highly recommended!”

“John has nearly completed the plans for our new house and it has been a great experience working with him. He has a rare combination of both creative and analytic abilities. From a very general vision we initially provided, he was able to develop a high level plan in very few iterations, despite the fact we live out of state and had only a couple of face to face meetings. His use of 3D renderings was quite helpful in this process. The construction documents he created were extremely detailed and well thought out. Our builder was quite impressed and had no significant suggestions for changes. John's customer service ethic is also admirable. He is very responsive, patient, and always meets his commitments for deliverable dates and content. We break ground in a couple of months and based on our experience so far, expect John will work with our builder towards a successful project.”

“I have chosen to work with Fentress Architecture Workshop on a number of occasions, both as a homeowner and contractor. James brings to the table a great deal of experience in both residential and commercial arenas, although my experience has been limited to residential applications. While he is fully capable of creating an independent design vision for a project, he, more importantly, has the ability to LISTEN closely to the desires of the client and allow their own vision to help drive the process. Some architects want to tell you what you want. James wants the final product to reflect your unique personality. Great architect and person.”

“It's telling when your house receives "love letters" during construction and after. One lady stopped her car in the street, hailed me over from the driveway, and said: "I adore your house...it's my favorite new house." Another admirer left a telephone message stating: "Yours is the most thoughtful home I've seen in a long time. Congratulations." The downside [!] is that we've accumulated a lengthy list of people who wish to tour the house and we'll get to them over time. Please know that if Leo Sapene designs your home, you will be pleased. ----------------------------------- I would encourage anyone working with Leo to use him for construction oversight as well. It is invaluable to have a knowledgeable architect to rely on during construction.”
