I had a pretty clear idea of the layout of our new house but needed help deciding on a contractor to hire as well as some creative structural details to make our 1800 sq. ft. single level home work for us as we age without looking like an "old folks home". Haven Design was instrumental in helping us select a contractor and we have been very pleased with the results.”

“When we decided to do a major renovation/reconstruction of our home we had nothing more than an abstract idea of what we wanted and the process seemed extremely daunting. We had heard wonderful things about Dave from friends, whose home is spectacular, and decided to contact Dave. Dave really listened to us and asked questions that clearly showed he was paying attention to our needs. He took our very abstract idea for our home and proposed inventive design solutions that we would never have imagined. Throughout the design and construction process Dave was extremely responsive, delivering drawings when promised and holding true to his commitments to us. More importantly he was respectful of our questions and immediately addressed any concerns that we might have had. Dave was always mindful of our limited budget, balancing our wish list against what the budget would allow. What seemed like such a daunting experience turned out to be quite wonderful thanks to Dave's extensive knowledge of architecture and design, his professionalism, and the ease of which it is to work with him. “We first consulted Curt when we were trying to solve a problem with plans for an addition to our home. He efficiently resolved that issue after asking and listening effectively regarding what we were trying to accomplish. In later years we had him design an extensive master bath remodel and then a major whole-home remodel. He and his team are excellent on both straightforward and higher-end building solutions and their attention to both the bigger space issues and the fit-and-finish details are outstanding. Highly professional and great to work with as well and very reasonable in cost.”

“We used HKP architects for a total remodel of a mid-century house we purchased. It was important for us to keep the integrity of the original home, but update it to fit our needs and life style. HKP did an excellent job of designing the remodel -- providing structural expertise, incorporating our ideas, presenting options in the design and the reuse of original materials, suggesting new materials and finishes, and helping us visualize the completed project ; and of managing the remodel -- managing the contractor, monitoring the budget and timeline, and providing documentation on all decisions. HKP's experience with ways to make our home more energy efficient was also very important to us. The partner and associate who worked directly on our project were so wonderful to work with - - professional, knowledgeable, imaginative, detailed, and delightful. We wouldn't have the "new-old" home we love without them. (Photos of our home are included in HKP architects' home design photos - - "private residence, Mount Vernon".)”

“We had a wonderful experience working with Jen on the plans for our home addition. She took time to discuss our needs and wants; as well as discover our design preferences - all while working within the scale and lines of our existing home. Jen took that information and came back with three unique approaches. We selected one and refined it as a team. She had excellent ideas regarding room sizes and placement. Now that our addition has been built, we can’t imagine our home without it. It looks as if it was always there. We highly recommend Jen Jones and her work.”
