“Studio AWA recently designed and project-managed the renovation of our house. The brief was to open up the ground floor to let in more natural light, and to make more efficient use of the living space. Studio AWA spent a significant amount of time at the outset of the project speaking to us to better understand our desired outcome and getting an understanding of our style preferences. This time was invaluable as it allowed Studio AWA to suggest ideas that we had not considered and which had a huge impact on the finished product. This included enlarging and adding additional windows, and inserting large sliding glass doors at the rear of the house. Studio AWA also provided kitchen and bathroom design services for us and, based on the high quality of this work, we asked for additional interior design help. Studio AWA provided a comprehensive service which included the selection and hiring of the quantity surveyor, engineers and building contractor, and full supervision and coordination of all the works. We were given regular updates on progress throughout. We are really happy with the finished product which has met the objectives of our brief and gone some way beyond. “I highly recommend David who designed and supervised the best conversion of a dark downstairs chicane of walk-in cupboards to a bright airy corridor, one side of which is floor to ceiling storage cubicles, with laundry room and a shower room on the opposite side. “Coogan Architects have been fantastic throughout the design process and we really couldn't have achieved the space we have without them. Laura has communicated extensively despite our build being split into two phases (second part still to be completed). Her patience and professional advice both in person and over the phone has been astounding over the last two years. We asked for dormers to be added to a semi-detached bungalow and a single story rear extension. The total extended floor space being approx. 72 sq metres. The contemporary and minimal design produced including eternit panelling, zinc and cedar cladding lifts their work away from residential and suburban to magazine chic. The space created upstairs is outstanding and difficult to believe was achieved from the eaves (2 large bedrooms and bathroom). We are eagerly awaiting the downstairs work to start (AGM Contracts, Paisley) in order that we can fully appreciate all the effort that has been put in! I would absolutely recommend Barry and Laura to anyone!”

“We selected Martin and Louise from Urban Creatures to design and manage the build of our house because we liked their portfolio and found that they understood our brief. As a result, the design process of the house did not take long and they provided many good ideas. Obtaining planning permission for our house was quite problematic, but Urban Creatures were very professional in dealing with the planning department. Despite them working to our budget, the quotes from the builders were at least 1/3 above our budget, which led to some changes and omissions. But at least that saved us from a lot of nasty surprises once the building work started. Urban Creatures supervised the whole building process and we had fortnightly meetings with both Urban Creatures and the builder to discuss progress and issues. Again, this was done in a very professional manner. Overall, we are very happy with the service provided by Urban Creatures. We would recommend them to others and would not hesitate to use them again.”
