“We used Gavin Jefcoate to design our new kitchen extension and complete remodel of the downstairs of our home. It's nearly 3 years since work started and we are still as pleased with the results as we were when it was first completed. The initial meetings quickly demonstrated that Gavin understood our brief of what we wanted and why we needed it. The resulting plan was a really exciting change for the house with bold creative elements which also integrated the practical solutions that at the time we were desperate for. Throughout the build Jefcoate Anderson provided project management which took away most of the stresses that go hand in hand with altering any home to this extent. We are still hugely pleased with the results and would strongly recommend using this firm if you are considering a build project.”

“Studio AWA recently designed and project-managed the renovation of our house. The brief was to open up the ground floor to let in more natural light, and to make more efficient use of the living space. Studio AWA spent a significant amount of time at the outset of the project speaking to us to better understand our desired outcome and getting an understanding of our style preferences. This time was invaluable as it allowed Studio AWA to suggest ideas that we had not considered and which had a huge impact on the finished product. This included enlarging and adding additional windows, and inserting large sliding glass doors at the rear of the house. Studio AWA also provided kitchen and bathroom design services for us and, based on the high quality of this work, we asked for additional interior design help. Studio AWA provided a comprehensive service which included the selection and hiring of the quantity surveyor, engineers and building contractor, and full supervision and coordination of all the works. We were given regular updates on progress throughout. We are really happy with the finished product which has met the objectives of our brief and gone some way beyond. Our home has been transformed to provide us with a more modern, brighter, open plan living space. We would be happy to recommend Studio AWA to anyone.”

“2B were commissioned to provide concept drawings and take the design to planning approval and subsequent building warrant issue. At all stages they were courteous, kept to appointments made and listened to our requirements. The designs produced were of a high standard and matched with what our expectations were. We wanted a shell provision for an extension and some internal alterations for a full house renovation and they have assisted in other aspects as part of the remit which has helped us tremendously. Would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone”

“We bought the flat above ours in the tenement we live in, and we asked Studio DuB to redesign the joint double-flat from scratch, and then to project manage this, bringing in builders and other contractors they knew and trusted. They were superb in leading this from the outset to the finish, and we are really delighted with the results. The costings were presented in a very clear way, and design choices were made easy and clear at every stage. The network they have amongst trustworthy Edinburgh contractors, surveyors and other specialists was the next element in making this work smoothly and successfully, on time, and cost-effectively. They were easy to work with, and were good at eliciting from us what we wanted in overall terms, and where specific choices were needed, or changes to the operations conducted by the builders were needed, under time pressure, we always knew we were well supported and they would ensure a successful and top quality outcome. “Lorna has designed a beautiful and practical divider for the kids room in our Stockbridge home. With features such as secret compartments with swivelling covers or open porthole so they can see each other, talk and pass items over. The boys love their new separate “rooms” and the whole thing is designed so it can easily be dismantled and moved without damage to either walls or floor. Delighted with the result and Lorna was a pleasure to work with during the process.”

“I contacted three builders about getting an estimate for a loft conversion and only one got back to me. He recommended a local architect and everything moved swiftly and smoothly from there. The design of the upgrade to my 1850s end terrace cottage grew hands and feet but was never allowed to go crazy because of the sensible heads in charge. The joiner/builder and architect complemented each other and I am left with a property, the beauty of which was summed up in one question put to me by the joiner. "Is there anything you would change?" I answered that there is nothing I would change. Everybody who has been here since has complemented the design. Early on the knowledge and experience was evident in abundance from Lucas Dow Design Studios. The vision of an architect is something you pay for. I maintain my position - I would not change anything. The inside, which is not shown in the photos provided, is the triumph.”
