We worked with Cyrus Construction in completely renovating our townhouse's middle level. Prior to choosing Cyrus we solicited multiple quotes with Cyrus being the most competitive. Their team executed a significant project, including structural changes and a kitchen renovation, under the supervision of a communicative project manager, Farzan. The project stayed within the agreed timeframe, and any budget adjustments were transparently discussed. The team was flexible with adjustments to the plan as the project evolved. We are extremely pleased with the final result and would recommend Cyrus for your remodeling needs.

Cyrus Construction performed a multiple-level renovation of our existing home in Annandale. This is our first renovation project and the team at Cyrus Construction walked us through the process from start to finish, from meeting with us before the start of the project to get our vision of how the house should function, to helping us pick out the various materials and finishes for the project in the company’s showroom, and making sure the quality of work met our standards after the project was finished. The house was aging and the team at Cyrus greatly improved the functionality for our family; we couldn’t be more thrilled with the look and feel of the new space!

We relocated to the Alexandria/Springfield area a few months ago and decided that we wanted to finish our basement in our single-family home. After obtaining a few bids, we settled on Cyrus Construction. In the end, we could not have been any more pleased with our decision. The project manager (Farzan Beyrami) was superb and displayed professionalism at all times. The job actually started ahead of schedule and completed ahead of schedule. The basement looks fantastic. Thus, we highly recommend Cyrus Construction to anyone in the DC Metro area in need of home improvement projects.

The good folks at Cyrus Construction completed another excellent remodeling project for us. They installed new framing, upgraded electrical with new wall outlets and more of them, installed new recessed lighting, put cable outlets on opposite walls, repainted the walls and ceiling, and installed new luxury vinyl tile. They enlarged the opening to our crawlspace and replaced the door. The crafts persons were usually parked in front of our house waiting to begin when I got up each morning. They cleaned the workspace often, and they were quick to accommodate my requests for quiet when I had a telework meeting in my office next door. We are extremely pleased with their work. This is the second major job they have completed for us, and we will definitely go back to them again for more remodeling work.

The pics below are representative of a ~ $12-$15K master bathroom remodel Cyrus did for us. Included demo (removal of tub, sink / cabinet combo, toilet and 2x large wall cabinets), floor reinforcement, permits / inspection, and install of a walk-in tile shower w/ sliding glass door, new lighting, in-wall medicine cabinet, new vanity, new toilet and new flooring. Went w/ Cyrus not because their estimate was the cheapest, but because of their apparent professionalism. Russel quickly impressed me as someone who would stand behind and guarantee his work. Quality work, professionalism, flexibility and standing behind your work is more important in my book than being cheapest. Russel and his team delivered on all fronts! As with any remodel, hiccups occurred that extended the timeline, but most delays were my own fault as I dragged my feet picking out fixtures, tile, etc. All my issues / concerns were immediately remedied. Despite a BUSY schedule, Russel was responsive and always eager to look for opportunities to get work done. We did have one small problem with a worker not securing our front door via the lockbox / key. This happened once, and upon being notified of our concern, Russel did not allow that worker back on our job. I LOVE our new bathroom and am glad we went w/ Russel & Cyrus construction!

We recently completed our kichen renovation with Cyrus Construction and could be happier with the results! Russell and his team were great to work with from our initial design, throughout the project, and post renovation. We highly recommend!!

We really enjoyed working with Russell and Cyrus construction. Highlights: Quick and professional initial consult. Showroom had good variety and options. Was willing to work with us when an item we wanted was unavailable. Crew worked quickly and professionally (sometimes on a Saturday or late to finish a project). Majority of work done is sound and excellent quality (willing to fix minor issue that popped up). Lowlight: Occasionally took time to contact project manager. Project was supposed to last two months took five months. All in all would recommend the company and use again.

We're so glad we found Cyrus Construction! Russell was very prompt to reply to my inquiry and we quickly got moving on a proposal and planning of a base reconfiguration, master bath and pantry remodel. Russell made planning the project, and working within our budget, easy from 1,000 miles away. Once we got moved to the area we got to know the crew well and they were always so professional, detail-oriented, and cleaned up every evening when they were finished for the day. Russell was always so easy to touch base with by email, text, or phone and he was frequently calling us to make sure things were going well and see if we had any questions. We elected to do some painting and demo ourselves, to save money, and Russell still managed to get us what we're wanting with the money we have to spend. Our project was a basement remodel, including replacement of outdated carpet, paneling, drop ceiling, and fluorescent lighting. Russell was our project manager who we chose because of his willingness to listen to and work with us on our ideas. For example, he worked with us on our request for sustainable solutions. Russell's team installed bamboo flooring, a new drywall ceiling (giving us 1 foot more height), recessed lighting in 3 zones, bamboo accent wall paneling, new interior doors, trim, and painting. We couldn't be more thrilled with the final product. The crew was also excellent, involving us in many of the day to day decision points. Throughout the project, Russell was attentive to making sure we were satisfied, and worked with us on the small things to make them right.

We recently had our basement finished by Cyrus Construction. Cyrus managed to keep the project on schedule and on budget. We were very happy with the results and the high level of customer service.

I hired Cyrus to build a wet bar in our basement. The end result is fantastic. The project was mostly completed on time and Farzan was very helpful in the design phase and in project management.

We hired Cyrus Construction to update an early 1960s home. Work included complete gutting & modernizing 3 bathrooms, kitchen; rebuilding recreation room from foundation walls, adding flooring to basement, updating electrical panel & distribution, & lighting. Bathroom project included painting & modernizing all bathrooms, swapping placement of sink & toilet drains in 2 of the 3, adding shower to 1 & tiling floors. We highly recommend Cyrus Construction, Fairfax, VA & Russel Blake as Project Manager/Lead. We were extremely impressed with his professionalism, extensive knowledge & experience. Russel was a joy to work with, and we would definitely employ him again in a heart-beat! Throughout, Russell led the project & assisted us with design, material selection (Cabinets, hardware, countertops & flooring, vanities & plumbing fixtures, bathroom tile & design). Part of our decision to choose Cyrus was based on our initial visit to the Fairfax, VA office where we met with Russell & he showed us a wide variety of material samples. The various work crews were thorough & conducted themselves professionally at all times. They were conscientious and we could see they took pride in their work; were extremely efficient, cleaned up the work site when done, were helpful when we had questions/requested changes/modifications to initial plan as the project progressed. Entire project was estimated to take 8 weeks and was completed in 10 (including changes).

We recently used Cyrus Construction to remodel both our main and guest bathrooms. Not only were we extremely satisfied with the end result, but we appreciated the attention to detail and frequent updates throughout the process. We first came across Cyrus while looking online and scheduled a time to meet in the showroom to receive a quote. We initially met with Russel who explained the general process and showed us the selection of materials. We explained it was our first time doing a remodel like this and we were still at the beginning of the process, and Russell was great about answering our questions. We continued to get quotes from a few other contractors in the area and Cyrus Constructions offer remained very competitive. But what sealed the deal is Cyrus was the only company that followed up with us to see if we had any questions about the process. We ended up deciding to purchase our own tile to get a specific pattern, and Cyrus was not only able to accommodate but again were very helpful and answered questions regarding what additional materials would be needed to actually install and complete the project. That attention and level to detail continued through the installation as well. Russell made sure to go over the general designs beforehand and then the installers were extremely helpful and would display patterns so we could actually see the various options for the specific details before committing and installing. This really helped ensure we got exactly what we wanted and came through in the final product! Overall we were extremely satisfied and would highly recommend Cyrus if you’re looking to remodel.

We hired Cyrus to remodel our unfinished basement and our expectations were far exceed by the finished product! They turned our dingy, uninspiring basement where we had nothing but storage into an awesome bar/lounge area where we plan on watching hours of sporting events, a gaming room for my kids that is separated from the “adult” side and a beautiful full bathroom (which is nicer than all of the other bathrooms in my house)!! Every step of the way we had Russell to ask questions or ping him with comments about what we were seeing. He was always responsive and communicated with us via email, phone and text. He always kept us apprised of the “next steps” in the project. I would highly recommend Cyrus and will likely use them for our next home renovation!

Our project was a remodel of a medium-sized basement, which needed a complete refresh. We discussed the project with several companies, and chose Cyrus because we liked their ideas, their approach, and their pricing. They were neither the cheapest nor (by a long way) the most expensive, but were reasonable compared to typical local design/build companies. They were also very responsive in discussing ways to adjust the plan to meet our budget constraints. Once the work began, the crew were a pleasure to work with; the were always responsive to our many questions, immediately resolved the few inevitable minor technical issues, turned up without fail when expected, and completed the work professionally, unobtrusively (as far as demo and rebuild can be unobtrusive!), and promptly. At one point, we found that the practical utility of one of the fixtures did not live up to the design vision that we had originally agreed to; Cyrus were completely cooperative in resolving the problem at no cost to us. The result is everything we hoped for. We are delighted with the layout, lighting, workmanship and finish and Cyrus would be among our first calls should we contemplate any similar project in future.

I was looking for the cheapest contractor I could find to finish my basement, which was approximately 1100 sq. ft. of concrete. I spoke with 4 contractors. Of course every single contractor told me different things. I was told I needed to waterproof my entire basement before they could do anything, I needed an additional electrical panel, I needed an additional sump pump and I couldn’t put my wet bar where I wanted it. This was my first experience dealing with contractors in regards to finishing a basement. Needless to say I was very frustrated because no one would give me a quote, they all kept telling me everything I needed to do that didn’t include the finishing of my basement. I had no idea what I was doing, but I did know what I wanted the end result to be. The PM, Russell Blake, was the person that came and looked at my basement to give me an estimate. He was on time and very polite. As he took measurements of my basement, he did provide me advice when I was telling him how I wanted my basement to look. I appreciated his opinion, especially since this was my first time. He didn’t badger me or tell me I couldn’t do anything. He also didn’t tell me about all these other things that “I was supposed to do first” before I could even start on my basement. He simply showed me pictures of previous jobs and made suggestions in areas that I was unsure about. I did do research and those items that I was told HAD TO BE DONE, were not items that were mandatory in order to accomplish what I wanted. I went back and forth with the quote between Cyrus Construction and another contractor. Russell was prompt with his responses. Which I appreciate, I do not like to wait more than 24 hours for a business to provide me with information. They were not the cheapest but they weren’t the most expensive. The quote was still within my budget. Cyrus Construction did come highly recommended when I did my research and read the reviews. I did see some reviews that weren’t 5 stars, but I looked at the time of the project, how many negative reviews there were total and how many reviews overall. My concern was the overall rating. I believe you can make some of the people happy some of the time, but not all of the people happy all the time. I also chose Cyrus Construction because they did not BS me!! Russell was very easy to work with. I changed my mind a few times, but there was never an issue with my requests. Someone was always home at my house, so the workers did their best to stay out of our way and were always very polite. It took about 6 to 8 weeks for my basement to be complete. I added a small room with an egress window, a half bathroom and wet bar to my basement. All areas were fully finished except the gym area, which I had them close off and just add an entry door. I am very picky and a little bit OCD. I went over my basement with a fine tooth comb and provided Russell with my list, which were all cosmetic. Russell made sure that all items were met to my satisfaction before I made my final payment, even down to the smallest detail. I am very happy with the end result of my basement I attached some before and after pictures. I am still in the process of decorating, so disregard the grandbaby and toys!!

We recently used Cyrus construction for our kitchen, Bathroom and a large portion of our basement and we are impressed with both the process and the results. I have consulted numbers of contractors and takes genuine pride in the quality of the work they’re doing, and that certainly describes Project Mgr. works with. Both our kitchen and bathroom looked amazing and did a good layout and design for us to choose. We were very happy and so much impressed with the outcome .Also, the quality of materials used are of high- quality standard, and the tradesmen listened patiently of what we wanted for both our kitchen and bathroom. We were absolutely delighted that the time frame finished without any delay and within our budget .And this another big factor for choosing Cyrus construction. I do appreciate their attentiveness, and they are very welcoming too when we dropped by in their showroom they showed us lots of kitchen and bathroom products that we can choose from for our kitchen and bathroom and basement that we needed with high-quality materials. Cyrus staffs were very helpful. They provide us with numerous sources for our kitchen cabinetry with very good quality, tiles for our countertops and floor tiles for our bathroom. All the work performed throughout the renovation was of the highest standard, and we enjoyed working with James. The crew cleaned the area every time they finish working , no dust or clutters around my house .I also appreciated how hard they worked to keep the schedule and my budget at the same time. The job they did for me was fresh, modern and very creative looking. And any questions I asked them regarding my kitchen and bathroom which was my main concerned James was very responsive which we were also impressed. He gave me a clear and detailed explanation patiently and honestly. I felt very comfortable and his straight -forward approach .And with James skill of craftsmanship and code of knowledge has the ability to problem-solving and I would recommend Cyrus Construction are a reliable contractor. I enlisted Cyrus construction to perform my kitchen remodel. The only aspect of the kitchen that was not changed was the layout; everything else was replaced. Russell, my project manager, was friendly, professional, honest and matter of fact. He worked with me to stay within my budget and also assisted me in designing the kitchen. Once the project was underway, I felt comfortable bringing up any concerns I had, as mundane as they might have been. He was timely with change orders and updates. And the project was not considered complete until my every concern was addressed. My kitchen has since been getting rave reviews. I now have a herringbone backsplash, tile floors, recessed and pendant lighting and a beautiful granite countertop - all of it while staying close to my budget. I would definitely recommend Cyrus Construction for future remodeling needs.

Happy to report that Cyrus Construction, led by Russell, completed several renovation projects at our home and we are very happy with the outcome of each. Our kitchen and family room were combined, completely gutted and rebuilt, our basement now includes a very sweet kitchenette, and our rec room was renovated with all new finishes and a new fireplace façade. The project was complex and there were several unforeseen conditions (structural and electrical) that had to be overcome, but Russell and his team calmly and professionally dealt with each of them. Home renovations are simply stressful, but it was a big help to have Russell, who is extremely responsive, ensuring us that we would get over each hurdle and in the end be very happy with the outcome. And he was right, we are!

Cyrus provides the highest quality of workmanship. They take their time to make sure that the quality is the best. I am pleased with the work they did for me. They put in a full basement apartment into an unfinished basement. This included 2 bedrooms, 1 and a half baths, a full kitchen, dinette, living room, laundry room, and a very beautiful and large deck. The foreman and other contractors and very professional and pleasant to work with. They are honest and do what they say they will do. They stayed within the original budget they quoted me. I couldn't be more pleased with the end results.

We recently had a Cyrus construction finish our basement. We worked with Russell on our project and he was very helpful. He was patient enough to come out multiple times to relook at things and answer all of our concerns prior to even signing our contract. He helped our vision come to reality and contributed his prior experience and had many helpful insites to ideas we had not considered. He stayed within our budget and when any additional unexpected costs came up, his cost to perform the additional work was always reasonable. He was prompt to respond and address any issues as they arose. We love our new space, it included a full bath room, bedroom/den space, dry bar and family room Space. We can’t wait to work with them again for our future projects.

I can’t recommend Cyrus Construction enough. They renovated my condo doing a full kitchen and bathroom remodel and modernizing the other spaces. Russell came and talked through the job with me. He offered suggestions and was very open to my requests. The quote was very thorough and easy to understand. The crew was courteous, clean, and responsive to my questions. I was not living on the property during the renovation but stopped by each day to check on the work. The foreman talked me though what was done each day. The work was excellent, progressed at a reasonable pace, and finished in a timely manner. I’m very happy with the finished space and wouldn’t hesitate using them again and recommending them to friends.

Contracted with them to build the rough-in for a new basement bathroom. We had terrible communication from the project manager and extremely poor quality work completed. Project was expected to take 2 weeks. The project actually took 8 weeks. During a final walk thru with the foreman, he told us they didn't use a level when building portions of the new bathtub enclosure which is why it was 1/2" crooked. They also tried to change our 30" dog shower to a 20" size without bothering to ask permission or tell us. I was 9 months pregnant at the end of this project. They covered my entire basement in construction dust that was so bad, it broke our furnace. The carpet pad was so badly destroyed, they had to replace it. We negotiated with them to pay for a cleaning company to come in after and scrub up the incredible amount to dust and dirt that was EVERYWHERE since they didn't bother putting up plastic sheeting like they promised. Pics show the poor quality of tile work, crooked shelf installation, and cracked cement floor "repair" that we received with this project. Update: We declined $2,000.00 from Cyrus Construction to remove the reviews of our negative experience with the company.

Russell was great to work with! He understood our budget and worked hard to stay within it while rebuilding our basement from the floor up. His team completed everything on time and within budget and remained responsive to even the smallest changes.

It, was a pleasure to work with Cyrus Construction’s Project Manager, Russell. He did an awesome job with assisting us with designing our unfinished basement. Russell communicated our wishes to his Foreman (Neris). Russell, Neris, and the team made our dream basement a reality. The team always arrived early, have excellent craftsmanship, and cleaned up the debris. Russell and Nedris were responsive to our questions and requests. We, would recommend Cyrus Construction, Russell, Neris, and the team to our neighbors, family, and friends.

These guys do solid work. Our project manager, Russell Blake, did an excellent job working with us throughout the process. Russell was understanding and gave us a good discount too. Our kitchen looks beautiful and absolutely stunning. We have received so many compliments from our friends and family. My only recommendation, try to schedule projects during non-busy periods. Renovations were timely completed and pricing was reasonable. Russel, the project manager, was very professional and made it a priority to meet us on site often. Cyrus Construction was hired to carry out our basement remodel project. They were very helpful laying out all the options and recommendations during the design phase. The workers were professional and friendly. Even though the project took a little longer than expected and a few details were overlooked, it was still a positive experience.

We recently had our basement finished with Cyrus Construction. We started the process almost a year ago with estimates and interviewing contractors. We met with more than 15 contractors before deciding on Cyrus in May 2018. We were very impressed with Russell from the start. We’d ask about a specific for our basement and he would quickly reply with, “So and so did this—let me pull up a picture for you.” He’d find the example he was looking for and show and explain. We were so impressed with his recall of past projects, it gave us the assurance that he would be hands on and on top of the whole project from start to finish. The estimate we got was so detailed we felt like we could see where every penny was going. When you’re spending this amount to renovate something it is a good feeling to know exactly what you’re getting. We made our selections, and were able to get started at the beginning of July. The people coming in and out of the house to work were friendly, respectful and responsible. They were careful to lay down painters’ cloth as they moved in and out of the house. They left our home clean each night. Even though we were having roughly 1300 sqft finished we did not feel like we were living in a construction site. Whenever they were going to be loud (drilling into concrete etc), turn off water etc they would give us notice so we could plan around it. Our site project manager Nerus was wonderful as well. He and Russell were so responsive by phone or email. We worked closely with them through the whole process and as a result had a very—VERY small punch list of corrections/fixes at the end. We had our basement turned over to us mid-September 2018. We are thrilled with the way it turned out. The finishes are nice, the workmanship is great. We felt that they really listened to what we wanted in that space and worked hard to deliver and execute that plan. We have a few more renos to do in our house and will not hesitate to hire Cyrus Construction again. From start to finish they were a pleasure to work with!

The process for our remodel and other improvements using Cyrus Construction went very well. Russell Blake is very responsive and works with clients to make sure that all parties are informed and happy with the work. In every job, there will be some unforeseen issues. Russell and the work foreman Edwin worked quickly to make sure the job went smoothly. Now that all the work is complete, we have a high quality and great looking bathroom the exceeded our expectations. We will call Russell again for the next home improvement work we want to have done.

We looked at several companies but were most impress with Cyrus and their project manager, Russell Blake. Mr. Blake visited the premises multiple times and came up with the best plan to satisfy our needs. The contract he prepared was extremely detailed with regard to the work to be accomplish, the materials to be used, and the exact cost - a big plus that was not typical of other companies we contacted. We have done other major projects in the District and in Bethesda and I would say this one went as smoothly as humanly possible. The crew was terrific. Superb craftsmanship, super friendly, courtesy, and always left the premises clean. The entire job was finished in a timely manner and significantly faster than I had expected. We are super happy with their work and would definitely use this company again.

We hired Cyrus Construction to finish our basement, including creating a recreation area, wet bar, full bathroom, gym, and guest space. Cyrus’ bid was very competitive and the reference we called had nothing but positive things to say, so we took a leap of faith. Russell was our project manager and primary contact and guided us through the entire process. He was fantastic to work with and remained committed to our complete satisfaction throughout the project. He was patient, knowledgeable, stayed in regular communication with us and promptly addressed any questions we had. Our construction crew was extremely professional – they worked very hard, cleaned up each day before leaving, and displayed stellar workmanship. We especially appreciated the attention to detail – they made sure every element – from the fixtures to the built-ins– was picture perfect and flawless. The final result is a BEAUTIFUL basement, and we could not be more pleased. We have received numerous compliments from friends, family and guests. We highly recommend Cyrus and would not hesitate to use them again for other projects.

I really enjoyed my experience with Cyrus. From the beginning, Russell was responsive and trustworthy compared to other contracts we received estimates from. Cyrus also came back with a price that was more to our expectations vs. others that were severely over-charging. after the initial scope was laid out we were quickly given the start date which was only a week or two after we signed the contract. As mentioned above, Russell was very responsive with emails and phone calls. He quickly updated the scope of the project with any changes, but note that this company is VERY busy so make sure you are on top of everything yourself and keeping your own scope in check. Van was the foreman and it was a pleasure having him work on our basement. We'd go down and he'd be very excited to show us the progress he made (he was really the driving force behind the entire project). Every day there was something substantial completed. I am amazed at how he did all of this mostly by himself. Overall, as we sit and enjoy our basement sanctuary, we are grateful that we are able to do something like this and also grateful that we made the right choice in going with Cyrus

My husband and I relied on Cyrus Construction to remodel our 5 x 8 bathroom in a 1955-built home. They even repaired the window which was originally installed incorrectly. It posed a challenge, but they were able to rectify same-day! Each day the team cleaned up their mess from the gut-job. They laid painters cloth from the front door into the bathroom. The tile selection is beautiful. Great to work with. We will definitely use them again for any upcoming projects!

“Russell was on-time, bright and attentive. He drew up the complete plan for transforming my unfinished basement into a studio apartment with full bathroom and kitchenette. He sent me an electronic copy to review before we met in person at his office. At our meeting he helped me select the materials for my renovation and explained the differences of different price points for cabinetry, flooring, etc. He seemed very knowledgeable about the products his firm represented. We made a few tweaks to the plan right while I was there in the office and Russell said he would send me the revised drawing with estimate before he left for the day (it was already closing time when I left--but he came through, just as promised). I can't proceed right away with my project because my line of credit has expired, but as soon as I get funding lined up, I hope to sign a contract with Cyrus Construction and begin my renovation.”

Appointment for discussion and measurement was done promptly and discussion and plan development were done professionally and quickly. Questions were welcomed and addressed completely. Plans produced had good detail and great detail on estimate for the work. Estimate for the work came in higher than another by about 15% so didn't award Cyrus the work but would have no problem dealing with them in the future, completely courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Plans provided were well worth the price paid in planning for the work.

Extremely professional. On time for both the appointment at the Condo under consideration and the meeting at his office. He had many creative ideas, but ultimately we didn't do the project.

Two years ago I hired Cyrus Construction to completely gut my kitchen (new ceiling, floors, cabinets, etc.) I needed it done within 3 weeks as my husband would not consent to the remodel unless it could be done in that period of time. They did a fantastic job! I am totally pleased and recommend them to anyone I know who is considering a remodel. I give them 5 stars!

I don't normally review anything unless I am either super impressed or extremely mad. And I have to say, I am so super impressed and extremely happy with my new kitchen. I just bought a house in Rockville area, and I hated the existing kitchen. After scrambling through the websites, I came upon Cyrus Construction. So, I gave it a try. From first call to the last hour that the crews were here, I had a smooth and great service, plus the absolute workmanship. James was so courteous and patient when I had him explain certain things to me over and over, again and again. The crews were punctual, and very polite. Whatever I want done, I just call the office, and I have it taken care of by the crews. Besides the service, they also have great selections of cabinet and granite counter top. The products that James presented to me are beautiful and of top quality. The only frustration I had with this kitchen renovation was what to choose. Anyway, I ended up with the Bianco Antico granite and Vanilla Cream Pewter Glaze cabinet. This combination of cabinet, counter top, knobs, lighting, and even vent is absolute gorgeous. Every time I walk in this new kitchen, I feel "Gooood"!
