Exterior
J: I know I said I don't like marble, but the marble/polished walkway is pretty against the night lights (actually they may just be wet, but I still like the reflective property). I like the water feature as well. A: Same. Mostly, I like the different textures. The stone is nice. The dark rims at the top are pretty.
A: Love the colors, how it blends it with setting. Colors and material have an organic feel whole still being industrial. Love all the balconies and the black railings. Love the windows. Just absolutely beautiful. Not refined quite enough. J: To me the house looks cozy and fits in with the environment. But somehow the house seems frail or flimsy.
J: I like how the grey parts weave between sections to bring the parts of the house together....but still you can clearly see different sections of the house. I also like the rectangular panels of the grey sections, they seem to break up the continuous line somehow. I don't like the unkept landscaping. A: Colors are nice. Too much going on with the different layers.
J: I like both sets of stairs to the upper level. Really like the balconies...how they seem like new living spaces. Also I like the way the exterior and interiors don't seem to have separation. A: Like the stairs and balcony. It's a little busy, and the yellow light internally is kind of throwing me off.
J: This seems a bit too dark, but it is still pretty. I like the contrasting materials, but I wish those materials contrasted in color more. A: Think this is really pretty, and it looks like it really fits in the setting, which accentuates how pretty it is. Somehow this is organic looking without being all woodsy.
J: I like the feel of this...even though there is so much going on it seems cohesive. I actually like the louver feature to the right, although I don't like when that is overdone. I hate the grass lines in the driveway panels...seems hard to maintain. I'm not a big fan of the "sandstone"-like texture toward the center of the picture. A: I actually like that sandstone-like texture. The grass would be hard to maintain. But rocks in between would be cool. It's really pretty with the solid panes of glass. The glass seems to come to the front, and I think that's what I like most about this. The lighting on the house is cool too - there's top and bottom lighting, and that keeps it interesting.
J: While this one is not my favorite, it does represent much of what a modern house design should contain (lines, sections, materials, etc.). I don't mind the wood panels, but I'm not a fan of the color of stain they used...looks like a piece of furniture my parents had in the 90's. I don't really like the door, it looks cheap/flimsy. A: It's a bit too much wood, and I think a darker color and more contrasts would be nice. The windows are cool.
J: The glass stairwell is interesting. I like the exterior lighting. The massive wood section at the center/top is a bit too big without some kind of break. I don't see too many houses that use contrasting wood stains, but it works here (right and center, maybe just the lighting makes it appear that way). A: I would like this more on an office building.
J: I like the different materials used to display different parts of the house. However some of the sections don't seem to fit with the rest of the design as much. That upper middle section looks like a hospital from the 60's. This house needs more external lighting. I don't like the sandstone material. I don't like the diagonal stairs. I don't like the design they used to line the inside of the pool. Some of the landscaping looks unruly. I like having plants around, but not ones that would take a lot of maintenance to keep looking clean. But overall still a pretty house. A: I like the colors, but the house seems messy. It just seems like stuff is stacked on top of stuff. I like really wide stairways though.
J: I like the contrast and added weight of the upper roof (thicker, darker) as opposed to the lower levels (thinner, whiter). I like the full glass in one area, and paned windows in another. I like the uniformness of the interior/exterior lighting. I like the two story living room. This house feels grand but still somehow understated. A: Lighing is cool. The colors are very pretty and complementary.
