Gulliver 292
Another example showing clear wood, horizontal siding. Thinking of a metal roof which is durable and good for attaching solar.
In Scheme A, imagining wide boards at the porch skirting, spiral stair and roof deck, if these elements remain in scope.
To help you visualize scheme A, the next images look at examples of long horizontal, one story structures. They also show examples of pitched roofs. While I love the flat roof, this might be something to consider for cost saving reasons, and Scheme A can easily adapt to have a different roof.
In Scheme B, the house is composed of two primary "cubes" hugging a flat roof entry and screen porch. The cube to the east is two stories, and the cube to the west is a single story. They have a similar composition and siding to the forms in the image above.
Both schemes consider using a boardwalk entry to connect the driveway with the house. The walk could be open, covered, or a combination.
A slatted shading system would also be appropriate over the walkway, as it is on the southern side.
This ideabook has been put together to help you visualize the proposed schemes inside and out. The first images look at siding ideas. Here a combination of dark and light horizontal boards as drawn on Scheme A. Minimalist, clean lines and carefully chosen openings gives this an elegant feel.
