Residence, Santa Rosa, CA
The rear courtyard of this unique U-shaped residence is now home to a multi-functional patio featuring fountains of colored cast cement. The fountains are connected by a spillway which runs the length of the patio imparting the feel of a modern creek. Flowing water of the spillway can be viewed between the bluestone treads. Decomposed granite between treads and around the hard patio surfaces lend softness and color contrast to the blue-grays of the cement and bluestone. Black Diamond flamed stone veneer on fountain back walls echoes rocks in a river. Simple plantings highlight the grandeur of the space. Design by Merge Studio, Sebastopol, CA.
