As the right side of the photo hints, the dining area is open with and connected to the kitchen. A large sliding glass patio door brings a surplus of light into the space allowing the black walls to produce a relaxed rather than oppressive feeling. The resident wanted to keep her string lights up for when she hosts small parties.

A quartet of bold ink drawings by Al Held define this space, where a comfortable banquette in a Holly Hunt Great Plains Fabric surrounds a custom table of solid walnut. The distinctive side chairs are by Ico Parisi, Italy c. 1947, from Leon Hamaekers. The milk glass chandelier with Edison bulb is from Early Electrics

This dining room was a forgotten space, with a small opening to the foyer. It was completely beige and had track lighting that made it feel small and more like an office. We opened up the wall to the foyer, changed the lighting, added crown molding, painted the trim/walls/ceiling, and added furniture and decor. The ceiling is a light blue which, along with the crystal chandelier and cypress dining table, references my client's Southern roots.
