Backsplash?
We have been stuck about what kind of backsplash to get for our remodeled kitchen. The cabinet countertop is a deep espresso color. I wish in retrospect that we had gotten a dark gray instead. But it's too late.
So – we were thinking about a white glass subway tile that can reflect the view that's on the opposite side of the room. And brighten the space. Because the other thing I can't stand is that I'm just looking into a wall when I'm working in the kitchen- unless I'm working on the island.
The countertop on the island is just temporary – but we are thinking of keeping it white and hoping the white subway tile will work with whatever material we get for the counter.
The trim in the room is simply white by Benjamin Moore which is currently on the kitchen wall right now. Anyway any advice about backsplash would be much appreciated. Thanks!
ps. Sorry about the messy shot. I realized that if I waited for when the kitchen was truly clean, I'd never post!

as I said, it all depends on what else you have surrounding it.
here is another white idea
you could also do a 3D type of tile for a modern look.
and last one, I promise,,,,Mother of Pearl tile. these come in all shapes and sizes, have a glossy finish with reflection and will look wonderful w/your espresso countertop.
you could do these just behind the stove, or up to that wood thing your father put in for you.

El de la zona de lavado no necesita nada pero el resto de la casa a excepción de cocina necesita tratamiento de manchas y blanquear llagas entre losas. Tengo localizado a un profesional que lo hará. A ver qué resultado da. El suelo del baño si lo cambiaré porque voy a mover el lavabo de sitio para aprovechar mejor el espacio. Como es pequeño no será muy costoso. A la cocina lo que tenía pensado hacerle era un cambio de tiradores, bisagras, grifo e instalar una campana de inoxidable quitando el mueble actual sobre la cocina. También pegarle losas "backsplash" entre la encimera y los muebles. Lo de lacar los muebles creo que es demasiado complicado ya que todo lo que te digo en la cocina lo pienso hacer yo. Para el resto de la casa contrataré mi profesional de confianza. De todas formas, si sabes de un artículo donde pueda ver el tema del lacado le daría una vuelta. Las paredes de la casa se van a reparar y pintar. Mi incógnita es el color: el suelo es beige y el rodapié verde oscuro. La carpintería de puertas seguramente la ponga blanca ¿Sugerencia? (8) comentariosHola! Lo del azul por qué lo dices? Por fengshui, demasiada agua? Pensaba que había que evitar el exceso de fuego... El vinílico nos ha llamado la atención por la facilidad de colocación y de sacarlo si nos cansamos, pero tampoco descartamos azulejos. El suelo será parquet laminado de madera más bien clara, pero no lo tenemos escogido todavía. Los muebles serán Mano de Kvick en blanco. Las paredes que no sean salpicadero van a ir pintadas de blanco. La cocina está dividida en dos por un gran arco portante bajo el cual habrá una península, donde cocinaremos de cara a los ventanales que dan a la terraza (una señora terraza con muchas plantas y vistas al Tibidabo, no un balcón pequeñito). Cocinamos casi siempre con la Thermomix, con lo que la placa va perpendicular al arco porque lo usaremos poco. En el otro lado de la península van los tamburetes del desayuno, que mirarán en dirección al salpicadero en cuestión (no se puede tener todo!). De hecho, el desayuno y cuando pongamos cosas en el fregadero, el lavavajillas o cuando tiremos cosas a la basura son los únicos momentos que estaremos de cara al backsplash: el resto del tiempo estaremos de espalda mirando hacia la terraza. Te pongo dos renders sencillitos hechos por mi para darte una idea. Seguramente el azulejo/vinilo no lo hagamos subir por donde van los estantes (pero no domino tanto el Sweet Home 3D para quitar el fondo de esa parte). Cuando tenga el modelo exacto de silestone os lo digo (no nos acordamos de apuntarlo cuando fuimos a la tienda!)....Ver másopiniones diseño cocina
(13) comentariosNo!! la campana es muí fea,mejor la primera,y porque no pones todos los muebles seguidos,y la campana incorporada al mueble.....el fregadero,no puede ir en medio de dos mueble,y se el mueble es uno solo con dos puertas,tienes que poner el fregadero al medio y mas pequeño. (10) comentarioslas ventanas y la campana pueden ser negras. independientemente de como son los azulejos y los muebles es como si pusieras ventanas de madera...no vas a pintar todo de marron veteado. jaja si tienes el resto de electrodomésticos en blanco...pues yo pondría ventanas y campana también en blanco. la nota de color la das con los muebles en azul. y puedes jugar con los azulejos...poniendo alguno q otro en azul...o los tipo andaluz que te recomiendan mas arriba van super bien..voy a tratar de buscarte unas fotos q ilustren lo q digo...Ver máspundita

hace 6 añosÚltima modificación: hace 6 añosso, i'm feeling stuck again. we bought a bunch of white glass tile (tile bar) and taped them to the wall to see… Our only hope of making this kitchen look coordinated, and bright, is to have a bright backsplash that matches the island countertop (the current one is a temporary slab…).
SO, we figured a coordinating white for both. But the glass backsplash isn't working:
(1) it has a grayish tone that clashes with light tan veining in the kitchen counter (you don't see this from far away)
(2) and the grayish tone doesn't lend itself to the white we want for the counter.
A creamy, bright white would look best…I think (like the current island now, or the color of the paper towels!).
I was hoping for a reflective tile since looking at the wall feels claustrophobic… I'm now thinking a ceramic white polished and/or textured tile with maybe a square mirror below the hood….

hace 6 añosis this the Loft super white? polished or frosted? most white glass tiles are going to have an undertone. it's just the way glass is. sometimes it will be green or blue.
I can see where it looks a bit on the gray side, but it's not bad. what kind of bulbs do you have in the cabinet lighting?
The other way you could bring in white would be tilebar Simple White. it's a crystalized white thassos and porcelain. I actually have a sample of these and they are gorgeous. beautiful bright white.

these are thassos white, beveled 3x6. also a bright white.
if you have to have glass, order a sample of these and see if the undertone is any better. But unless you pay big bucks, glass does have a bit of an undertone to it.

hace 6 añosÚltima modificación: hace 6 añoswhat kind of square mirror? framed or just a bevel? and you mean directly behind the stove or behind the sink? if doing that, why don't you just do the mirror subway tiles? these come in different shapes and sizes, and types of glass. would be better than tile behind the stove and then hanging a mirror over it.
I actually have some boxes of the beveled subways and they are really nice looking.

hace 6 añosAre you interested in a hexagon or a diamond shaped tile? These happen to be from Mercury Mosaics, but other makers carry these shapes. I also chose a photo showing tiles of different colors that can pull things together, in case you're interested. I chose three shades of white tile behind my sink, which also faces a wall, and I love looking at the tile.

(we won't be able to replace the current island counter for 2 years…and i figure it won't be a problem to find a coordinating white countertop since there are generally so many choices…).
barncatz: the room is a total of 350 square feet… b/c of the proximity of the painting to the backsplash wall, worried about the busy-ness of a multicolor mosaic (though I love it!)
BTW, we are getting rid of the dining set and coffee table… but again, a bit stuck about what to replace it with. thinking contemporary espresso dining table with low back white chairs. and a live edge coffee table. trying to work with the woods/browns/greys/white. etc.
