Suggestions for kitchen floor?

We had a dishwasher flood that ruined our floor. I wasn't planning on replacing it so soon but I have to choose a new one, and I haven't really considered this much till now. Here's some shots of the kitchen. We need to paint it, but I'm not replacing any counters, cabinets, the backsplash or the hickory flooring in the adjacent rooms.

Marble slab on the island, cherry cabinet and black laminate counters.

Hickory flooring in adjacent room.

Old flooring, and plywood subfloor. What was removed was ruined by a dishwasher leak. Marble slab on the island.

Old flooring to be ripped out in bottom half, hickory in the top half.

If you are looking to replace original wood flooring engineered hard wood is one way to go because of all the choices that are available.

I would consider 1' X 3' rectified textured porcelain tile in a light color. It looks wonderful, cleans easily & has almost invisable grout lines. Perhaps you can use the opportunity to add under floor radiant heating, too.

@Cruca : Thank you for responding We both signed the original AND a mid-renovations updated contract, and both totalled 40.000. However, at the very end, he recognised an error on the final total, and explained that if I add up all the individual items, it totals 50.000. I understand, but he knew my budget was 40.000, and now because the work is finished, I can't even remove or reduce any of the work. It just seems unfair, because everyone could say that all the time. I trusted my builder, and as it was a printed document, I assumed all his calculations were correct!

We have an open floor plan and have placed glossy white tiles ( with a hint of grey veins) through out the living, dining areas, accented with a black border. Contemporary look. Now we need to figure out the kitchen! White tiles, black granite counters n backspash, white cabinets??? I havent seen many Houzz kitchen photos w white floor tiles

Gm everybody, My wife and me are trying to design our new kitchen, and we are a bit concern about its location in the house. This is a DIY project, so we are looking for opinions. As you can see in the picture, we are creating the kitchen room at the left bottom side and keeping a garden at the left upper. Our first idea was to locate the kitchen close to the living door (upper in the picture) but we would like to mantain the garden. Thanks in advance for any kind of help!! Rodri

hi GESTION ESTETICA If you click 'edit' on the page I sent, it displays the distance in centimeters when editing the room dimensions. The closets and furniture shown in image 1 are exactly how my room is, both in dimensions and placement, right now. I plan to remodel it later, like in the second image or a different one that's more organized, as I see fit or as you may suggest.

We had the underfloor radiant heat, and it is absolutely wonderful. It's a must.
