His keen eye for design saw needed simple improvements that were relatively inexpensive but had a massive effect on the overall beauty of the project. Perhaps most importantly when the manufacturer delivered the wrong custom coping, and I worried that we would not be able to meet the deadline of a large party that was planned for my backyard; Don found a way to resolve the issue and keep the job on schedule. We have been enjoying the result for 10 years now, with my only regret being the things I changed on my own from the written design plan as we were executing, thinking I had just come up with "better" idea. Wrong! They know what they're doing, and you can be sure its been thought all the way through. Everyone in the office was great to work with, returning phone calls and emails in a timely manner, and showing up for scheduled appointments on time. Our design plan was done when they said it would be, and we went straight to the City to get our permits. Which brings up another thing: Aitken & Associates was clearly familiar with our City ordinances because upon review by the City, there was nothing in our landscape design plan that we couldn't get permitted. I really like Shireen's approach. She spent a lot of time speaking with me and my wife to know our preference, and also spoke with my kids to get an idea what they like. My little girl is especially afraid of bees. So, when she chose plants, she specifically looked for the ones that do not attract bees. The project was completed in summer, and we all love it and practically hang out in the backyard all the time. During the discussion, she suggested we build a swing set.
