“Authentic Home was recommended to me by a friend when I bought my house in May 2011. I worked closely with Kathy Banak from May 2011 to December 2012 on transforming my home. Everything from paint colors and lighting and window dressings, to transforming several rooms with new layout & shelving and new Carrera marble fireplaces, to complete home furnishings for a 5 bedroom home. We even installed a new water softening system sourced by Kathy! Kathy's eye for color and subtle variations of color is incredible! She has really listened to me and learned my preferences and style, and, indeed, helped me to refine, explore, and 'own' that style now way beyond my early nascent ideas! She was relentless in tracking down the perfect item for each room for me. She is deeply creative and innovative in her thinking about what is possible: everything from reupholstering furniture in new luxurious silver and seafoam velvets, to repainting dark wrought iron pieces in light silver, to using custom designed mirrors as impactful accent walls, and to creating custom bed linens and accent pillows in each bedroom and livingroom. When I come home from work every day, I walk into a house filled with serenity and light and unique style. All my friends gather at my house for events rather than restaurants because it's now their favorite place! :-) Kathy and Authentic Home have given me so much joy in my new home. I can't thank them enough!”

“Working with Emily was fantastic. We asked her to help us redesign our kitchen ("Family and Friends Gathering" kitchen on her website) after we had seen one of her bathroom remodels. For our part, this was our first remodel, we had a moderate budget and were hesitant about adding the additional "cost" of a professional designer. I also love interior design, but get overwhelmed with choices. I now have no doubt that hiring Emily was the best decision. Priceless, really! We so appreciated Emily's hand-drawn design proposals, communication, intuition, reliability, graciousness and her authentic, down-to-earth approach throughout the entire process. She is incredibly talented, fun, and very easy to work with. Thanks to Emily's design our entire home is brighter and our family time at home is happier everyday. “Shaleesa Mize helped us with the update to the exterior of our 1970's home and I highly recommend her for her design services. She took all of our input and did wonderful 3-D computer renderings which enabled us to envision how the proposed changes would look. She was able to advise us on all parts of the project, from sourcing items, large and small and getting quotes from tradespeople. All of this was done from afar as she is in Spokane and we are in Denver. Shaleesa is a highly-creative young designer and was an absolute pleasure to work with.”

“I hired Lil Huckleberries on an hourly basis to coach me through my materials selection and to offer some advice on furnishing when my husband and I decided to renovate our 1970's home from top to bottom. I am SO glad I did because it saved us so much time/money/and sanity(ha, ha!) I would recommend their services whole heartedly!! Very easy to work with and fabulous ideas!!!!”
