“Prime 1 was the contractor for our 800 square foot addition. They worked closely with us and with our architect to design an addition that met our needs and fulfilled the vision we had in mind. One of our concerns was that the addition should match the period detail of the existing house, and they took every measure to ensure that such was the case. Our foreman was great. You would think he was building the project for himself, because he paid so much attention to every detail. He was always willing to work with us to make changes and listen to our concerns at every stage of the process. The crew was very conscientious and made every effort to minimize the disruption to our daily routine. Space was tight for delivery and staging of materials, but they managed to work within those limitations with little problem. Prime 1 was also willing to let us take on as much of the project as we wanted to do, and they worked with us at great length to keep within our budget. They inspired confidence in us, offering sound advice from experience, and making the venture an enjoyable experience. The finished product is beautiful, and it has been a pleasure to use our new space.”

“We recently completed a vacation home in Grand Lake with RJ Design Homes (Ryan Johnson) as our General Contractor. The home is ~4000 sf and the cost to build was >$1M. The design is what we are calling rustic elegance with exposed timbers, moss rock, rough sawn hardwood floors, etc. but with a balance of upper end travertine, slate, and alder. The quality of construction is exceptional and Ryan's attention to detail is really what sets him apart from other builders we interviewed. Beyond the build quality, Ryan was always doing research on design elements that we wanted to incorporate but were exceptionally expensive and either finding alternative options or building what we needed himself. One of the focal points of the house is a +30 ft moss rock fireplace that Ryan hand picked the stone for and is amazing. Many of the design touches were ones that he came up witwh along the way that really add to the house (live edge counter tops in the kitchen and bar area that tie into the timber beams and granite counters). There are three large timber trusses in the great room that he designed and built that are outstanding and a really a conversation piece and then the lower level has a custom stained/acid washed concrete that is beautiful. There were a number of challenges along the way between the architects design and the engineering that didn't always work correctly but Ryan was able to find a way to resolve the issues without compromising our vision for the house. As you can tell, we are extremely pleased with Ryan and how well our project turned out.”

“My wife and I lack the 'vision' needed to see the potential of an open space. A Google search led us to Pittsburgh Design and Remodeling, and we reached out to inquire about their basement design services. The design agreement consisted of an initial phone consultation, several 3D renderings (which were updated based on our feedback), and ultimately a neatly packaged pdf file with all of the information. Jeff (the owner) asked all the right questions to get the conversation started and paid close attention to our responses. He presented some interesting ideas that we otherwise would not have come up with. He is friendly, professional, and did exactly what we contracted him to do. We would highly recommend his design services. I should add that our agreement was for design services only. No actual work was performed on the basement so I cannot comment on that part of the business.”

Everyone from Michael Healey himself, through our project manager Christine and Jim, the foreman on the job were communicative, willing to answer questions and happy to listen to our ideas and concerns. I'm a designer and was very concerned about finding a contractor who would be as concerned about the details as I was and be willing to discuss options--they have absolutely been willing to do this. They've also been very understanding about our need to work within a budget and and more than willing to explore alternatives. And the sub-contractors that they work with have been equally as responsible and communicative. I can't recommend them highly enough and we will engage them for our next remodeling project!!”

“We used Action Builders for a two-story addition to our ranch home, adding a kitchen/great room, with two bedrooms, a bath and mud room on the lower level. They were very responsive and creative, making it possible for us to proceed with the addition without the benefit of an outside architect. Once they got started, they miraculously finished within one week of their estimated time frame. During the entire construction process, which included Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, there were only two or three days when the crew were not on the job site The addition is terrific and we are pleased to allow other potential clients to visit and see our finished product.”

He was one of the only contractors that we had met that was on time for every single appointment we had and he was always well prepared. After discussion of our ideas, he completely understood our style and our needs. He sent us a quote by the next day. He always kept us updated with the timeline and was available to us when we had questions and/or concerns. The carpenters on the job were courteous and professional and were able to answer our questions along the way. They also were on time everyday and worked extremely hard to complete. The work was completed on time and on budget for us. We love the way everything turned out and we can't recommend this company enough! We will definitely be working with Shelton in the future.”

“I called Terry to rescue a remodeling project that had gone horribly wrong. Terry and his son Ryan were able to fix a terrible drywall installation, craft and install window, floor, and ceiling trim, and install a bamboo floor. To finish the job, Pat painted all of the trim and the wall repairs. The quality of their work is perfection and their performance is skillfully professional. Terry sized up my situation, provided excellent advice, and brought the project to completion quickly and reasonably. This family team showed up on time, covered my carpeting and stairs with drop cloths, built the window trim offsite to minimize dust, cleaned up at the end of every workday, and quietly got the job done.
