“Carl Mattison Design is truly a full service design house. Carl met with my husband and I a few months prior to begining our kitchen and bath remodel project. He helped us to think through many different options for our space. He was very creative and came up with a design proposal which utilized our kitchen space in a way we had never considered. At first we were hesitant to make such a dramatic change in our almost 100 year old house, but ultimately we selected this design- dubbed "The Ultimate" and we could not be happier!
We discussed budget with Carl at the onset of this project and he never lost sight of that parameter. When my husband and I decided to increase our budget, Carl was the one who keep us realistic and worked to help keep cost down. In a house as old as ours it's not surprising that quirks and problems arose. Carl never gave up on finding the most practical, budget friendly solution and was always available to meet when we needed him. He also made himself available to our contractor which made the process smoother when quick decisions or details were needed.
Carl helped us to narrow down difficult choices for small and large decisions and always replied quickly when I problems arose. He is always on time and also fun to work with! I happily recommend Carl Mattison Design to all my friends and neighbors who have come to check out our new and beautiful space!”

“We would highly recommend Notre Maison for design and renovation. They did an incredible job finishing our 2500 square foot basement from the studs and making sure it was consistent with the rest of our home. In particular we were impressed with budget/time management, design recommendations and quality of Notre Maison. They came in ontime and under budget. This was particularly important to us because we had a family reunion at the finish of the project. They had the appropriate amount of extra time built into the schedule to make sure project challenges that arose were able to be dealt with in a timely manner but still keep the project on schedule. They were very understanding of our strict budget. They stuck to it and didn't try to convince us to buy more expensive product. We loved the design recommendations-- few of our favorites are the trey ceiling over the game room, the tile choices in the kitchen & bath, the lofts in the playroom, the wallcovering in the dining area and the great use of space under the steps for storage. Of course quality is very important too. They chose excellent, name brand appliances. They even upgraded our insulation to the high-end, mold management selection so that our basement would never smell moldy (while staying within budget). All in all, we would highly recommend this very professional, high quality company.”

“I cannot say enough good things about SCAL. We have been using Danny and his team for more than 25 years. He has remodeled our kitchen twice, built a brand new second story to our house, and added a third story under our house. We have never sought another bid from another contractor since our first job. The workmanship is first rate and the communications process is better than any other contractor relationship I know of.
One specific episode sticks in my mind. During the second story renovation, and before the house was weatherproofed, a rain storm came in. It was February, and at about 9 pm Danny came to the house (un prompted) to check on the condition of the temporary tarp. He climbed up on the roof in the pouring rain to check that it was secure. If contractors could earn medals for conduct "above and beyond," Danny won one that night.
We lived in the house for all of the renovations except for the first. Danny was always solicitous of our needs in living through the construction. He and his team listen, they respond, and they do what it takes to make sure the job comes off successfully.
The creation of a living space under our house - which required excavating under the house to within 3 feet of the foundation - was an astounding feat of construction engineering. As he excavated, he had to continue to support the house, maintain utilities, and minimize cracks in 80-year old plaster. He had to waterproof the under ground space make sure the house was secure once it was complete. I would simply not have done the project if it was any other contractor. I understand the project was published in the Journal of Light Construction.”

Partners James Krysak and Al Gordon and their crew recently finished a full house remodel for us with workmanship and service that were outstanding. From the design process throughout the project completion, they were thorough and professional. James listened to our wants and needs and then helped design a kitchen and two baths utilizing every inch of available space. Al led a team of professionals into our home to remove the old and rebuild a stunningly beautiful new kitchen, master bath, and guest bath.
We were extremely impressed with the professionalism, courtesy and skilled craftsmanship of the workers that came to our house.
