“My husband and I had debated for several months if we should move to a larger space, or renovate our current home for our expanding family. I had brought this up with Rick Byrd, the owner of Byrd Design and Build (BDB), and he immediately came to our house to talk with us through all of our options. He walked through our house and really gave us some amazing plans to make the space we already had more usable and more modern and up to date. This was the perfect option for us, considering we were expecting our first child. He laid out all of the different renovation plans we could have and really helped us envision a space catered to our wants and needs. My husband works from home, so we thought it was going to be a difficult journey to do an almost complete gut job of our basement and first floor kitchen/bedroom/bath, but BDB did an amazing job accommodating him and being cautious of the space we weren’t renovating. During the construction process, all of the subcontractors of BDB were extremely nice, non-invasive and very courteous of everything in the house. Darren, the project manager, was always attentive and mindful of our timeline, which was shortened due to the arrival of our new baby. We have the perfect new nursery, brand new kitchen and bathroom, and an entirely finished basement all just in time for our son. Everything was completed in a timely fashion and in pristine condition. We are obsessed with our basically “new” house!”

“We are writing to wholeheartedly recommend Timothy (Tim) Strosser of Studio 810 Design as a designer and general contractor for home improvement. In 2012, we met Tim at the Philadelphia Home Show, and were impressed by Tim’s portfolio of previous designs and building projects. On his first visit to our home in the Philadelphia suburbs Tim impressed us again with his instant understanding of our home improvement needs. We wanted to build a new bathroom in a little-used space that was attached to our master bedroom, but Tim suggested a much better solution; building an addition to the house’s second floor, and placing the bathroom in it. This way we got a fabulously looking new master bathroom that is an envy of our friends and neighbors, and avoided a mistake of building a bathroom that would be to small and not convenient. Timothy also designed and built for us a mudroom in front of our house, completely redesigned and rebuilt our patio, and changed the siding all around the house. We are very satisfied with the quality of his design and workmanship of his crew. Tim is a very experienced project manager, and he worked hard to accommodate our specific requirements during the project and to adjust all the logistics accordingly. He was able to keep the project deadlines despite very unfavorable weather conditions, the climax of which was Hurricane Sandy. During the project we occasionally changed our mind regarding some details (e.g., selection of tiles), and Tim was always ready to either accept our new ideas or, when they were not practical, offer very good alternatives. During the project we developed a trusting, friendly relationship with Timothy and many of his crew members. We were so satisfied with our collaboration with Tim that, after the first big project was completed, we tasked him with a couple of smaller projects in our house (e.g., staircase renovation), and outside (landscaping). We are sure that, with his great artistic taste, his extensive technical experience, and his understanding of individual clients’ characters and preferences, Timothy can exceed expectations of the most demanding clients. We already recommended the services of Studio 810 to our neighbors, and we recommend them to you.”

“Pete and his team did a complete refinishing of our basement. It was done in two stages: the first included designing the empty space to make it most functional for us. We needed apartment type living as our daughter and two granddaughters are living with us. We wanted as much light as possible which he accomplished with the installation of extra windows and great lighting. In addition to a living area, we needed a desk area, a bedroom and bath and plenty of usable storage. He covered existing support posts and added closets. The second stage was begun after three years when we decided a kitchen was also needed so Pete again used his design expertise by converting the desk area into a wonderful kitchen which includes plenty of cabinet and counter top space, a refrigerator, sink, dishwasher and stove along with the addition of a beautiful, functional breakfast bar. Pete and his carpenters, plumbers and others were always respectful, on time and kept us abreast of what was happening on a daily basis. There were no unexpected delays. We could not have asked for a better outcome.”

“Scott and Paul Poore are totally knowledgeable about home construction. At our request, they demolished our kitchen and then built the new one on the shell of the old one. They skillfully constructed the new walls, floor, ceiling and lighting with the help of their trustworthy professional team - plumber, electrician, HVAC, painter, and flooring men. The Poore Brothers have every piece of equipment to construct a new room or a new house. No shortcuts were taken; the best tools were always available in their trucks. Scott, Paul, and Dan Poore were delightful to have in our home for seven weeks of work. They are respectful, pleasant, prompt, and trustworthy. Scott is a perfectionist, never quitting on any task until it is done perfectly. At the end of each workday, they cleaned up the work area. During the messiest phases, they blocked off adjoining rooms and laid protective plastic on top of carpeting in adjacent rooms. After constructing new walls, ceiling, and flooring, they and their professional team installed new cabinets, countertops, flooring, backsplash, lighting, sink, faucet, and appliances. They adjusted each component for true balance, correcting for anything that was not level. I recommend the Poore Brothers without reservation.”
