“We live in the Meadowridge house which we bought from Gary in 2000. He had designed and built the house in 1994. We had him add on to the house, converting the garage to another room and building a new garage. My wife and I love the house. In fact we are expanding again adding space to the garage and putting two bedrooms above the garage along with other changes. Gary had left the area so we are using another architect/builder. But we have continued his designs in the new addition. My comments refer to The original house and addition. The design is fantastic. The best attribute is the sky lights that run run the length of the house in both directions. These make the house what it is! The use of wood (aspen ceilings, vertical pine logs, sand blasted wood trim around the doors, etc.) and stone (entry way and some outside walls) give the house an outdoors feel inside. Several rooms/closets do not have doors giving an openness to the house. We love the vaulted ceilings leading up to the sky lights that emphasizes this openness. He also used interior windows to light up areas that would not receive sunlight. In short we love his architectural ideas as expressed in our house. We have lived in the house for 12 years and have had no structural issues in spite of heavy winter snows. -Cres Fleming”

“Had some decisions to make, as we wanted to add to our family, and could no longer live in our 2 bedroom 1 bath house. We could either move or build up. We chose to build up to a 4 bedroom 3 bath, and are ecstatic with the results. Although my wife's concern was having all the bedrooms on one floor, mine was that the remodel keep the same historic architectural detail that attracted me to East Sacramento to begin with. Cue in Mills Builders which is run like a finely tuned pitching machine. You have the starter, Jonathan Mills, who's work I had seen around the neighborhood back in the height of the construction boom, kept the right people even though he had to scale back in the current economy, and was able to bring our vision to fruition with the help of designer John Packowski. That, and he owned a home in East Sac and only moved to Clarksburg because of his growing family sold us on the deal. After the initial stages, the middle reliever is Danny DePiazza, who is the project manager. He was always timely to our requests and kept a firm deadline. Finally, the closer comes in. Seth was able to handle all of our punch-list needs. I figure if you are going to spend 5-6 months day-in, day-out making decisions that you are going to have to live with for the rest of your life, there are few people who can say such positive things about such a big project. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing. Go with Mills Builders; you'll be happy you did.”
