“Susan helped me with window coverings for our master bedroom, master bathroom, second bedroom and family room. Our master bathroom has a large square window with a half-circle window on top. It was a challenge because it sits on the other side of a jacuzzi tub. Susan recommended a honeycomb blinds with a remote control to open and close the blinds. We love it! We also love the room darkening blinds she recommended for the bedrooms. Our family room window has always been a challenge. It takes up most of a two-story window and includes a half-circle and two quarter circles. Susan recommended wood shutters and they are perfect. The wood in the shutters is a perfect match for our wood trim. The installers Susan works with are great! They arrive on time, are quick and efficient in the install and even provide hints about the best way to use the products. Susan is on-sight during the install to direct and answer questions. I am extremely pleased with my experience working with Susan. She made selecting and installing window treatments very easy and it was great to have someone who was able to work around my schedule. I'm looking forward to having Susan help me with future custom window treatments to coordinate with my blinds and shutters.”

“We bought a small condo in a busy area of Chicago and needed shades and blinds. Blue Sky Blinds was recommended to us by a builder who does homes in the seven-figure range. “I love Urban Environments. It was recommended to me by several different designers. I finally went in to check it out after being hired by a client that had just bought a 3 story house with many bare windows. She was in need of privacy asap. My design style is very earthy, textural, understated and yet elegant. I explained what I was looking for to the owner, Kim. She pulled out a hand full of books that fit the bill exactly. I LOVED THIS. If you are a Chicago designer that is tired of spending hours in the stale air of the Merchandise Mart looking for the perfect fabric, STOP. Go to Kim. She sorted through it all for you and has the best stuff. Kim worked around mine and the client's schedule and handled all the details from measuring to production to install. We had roller shades, roman shades and gorgeous drapery installed throughout the house. We also chose a wallpaper for the bathroom and she handled the measurement, order, delivery and install. When it comes to window treatments there is a lot that could go wrong. Go with an expert! This was a $30,000 project and transformed the look and feel of the entire house the day it was installed. I had another client with a very low budget. We went with woven wooden roman shades. I had her price everything out and then on behalf of my client had Home Depot come to price out something similar. To my surprise the pricing comparison was within a couple hundred dollars and yet Kim offered a better quality and more customized options. My client was also shocked. It was a no brainer, we passed on Home Depot for Urban Remains. It turned out beautifully and again, transformed the whole house. Her pricing is very competitive and of course she works well with designers. She is one! She makes my life easier and I love that. If you are nervous about "custom" window treatments, don't be, she's got this. Also, her staff is great.”
