“I first contacted Doolittle Design to build me a custom desk. I wanted a desk with a clean modern design that would fit in my home office. Troy, the designer, met with me to discuss what I was looking for. I told him that I was open to the design and materials but the dimensions would have to fit a certain space in my office. He looked at my height and measured the room. We discussed the proper height based on the use of the desk. He also discussed with me the different types of reclaimed wood he either had in stock or could get if necessary. Troy came back with an illustrated design of the desk along with a sample of the reclaimed wood he chose for it. This is where it became interesting. See, Troy just doesn’t work with any type of wood he works with wood that has stories. The wood chosen for my desk was made out of reclaimed, old-growth redwood from lumber salvaged from the Lindsay Olive Company in the California’s Central Valley. The tanks that were used for soaking the olives were made of this wood. It was beautiful after Troy cleaned up and finished it. We made some adjustments and Troy went off to build the desk. I have had this desk now for several months and could not be any happier. Having a beautiful custom piece of furniture that is very pragmatic in my office not only adds to the aesthetics but also enhances my creativity and well-being. I just love all the character in the reclaimed wood. The water stains in this material are so dramatic. I just haven't seen that in other new furniture before. I would definitely recommend Doolittle Design for any of your custom furniture needs.”

“Lawrence is the go-to guy if you wanna have a customized solid wood furniture piece. He helped me design and make a beautiful walnut dining table from sratch and everything along the process was a wonderful experience. He hand-selected the raw wood slab, showed me various combinations of how he would put them together, painted a number of wood samples and showed it to me before he applied it to the table just to help visualize the real effects. Communicating with Lawrence was very casual and easy, and he was extremely patient when it came to the times I wanted a change on the original design. My dining table turned out to be a masterpiece in my eyes and everybody liked it.”

He managed to squeeze in a good sized pantry, and here I thought I'd never get one! Kevin's website is very user friendly with a lot of before and after pics! He literally walked us through every step of the whole process helping and guiding us to make the right decisions and selections. Let me say this is a really tough and stressful process and ones always worries about making the wrong choice either in color, material or use of space. “My designer has used Demetra before and the reviews were excellent. Our experience was not flawless. However, we were able to work out a solution with Demetra. We ordered cabinets for a kitchen and a kitchenette. My designer started working with Lexus and unfortunately their design used an 8' ceiling instead of 9'. A few months later when we were ready to work out the design Lexus was gone, so Kevin took over. Kevin came and measured the spaces to finalize the designs. I met with him to go over the details. For the kitchenette he was able to figure out an efficient panel layout to cover the bottom side of the uppers that were not colored (this is a drawback with the acrylic cabinets). That was great, except when he measured at the site he did not see that a beam that intersects his design of the upper cabinets. Luckily, I caught this error before the cabinets were in production. He was very quick to update the design and the cost was actually reduced with our solution. Unfortunately, I did not catch the 8' ceiling error in the larger kitchen design. The renderings showed the cabinets going to the ceiling like I wanted. After we placed the order we were told that the finish we selected was no longer available! Make sure to confirm the materials before signing off for production. The only option Demetra offered was a different finish (acrylic) which was a different shade of cream. We were in a pickle since we needed the cabinets and the production time is quoted as 6-8 weeks. Finally, the cabinets were delivered and when my contractor started the installation he let me know that the 8' tall panels to cover the sides of the refrigerator were too short. I contact Kevin and he tells me that the panels are not available taller than 8'. Things are looking pretty grim...I meet with Kevin and Ricky (owner) and we quickly came up with a solution using a new product that will coordinate with the cabinets and has longer panels. Ricky agreed to credit us for the short panels to offset the cost of the new panels and additional upper cabinet/doors. Overall, the cabinets may even look better, and Kevin and Ricky were creative in figuring out how to use what we had to minimize the additional cost. The acrylic cabinets are stunning and are more durable compared with the high-gloss enamel (used in our last kitchen project). The lead time for the material is also short - just 2 weeks. If you are thinking you will save some money and just use IKEA cabinets, you should reconsider. Demetra has custom size cabinets that are much higher quality for not much more cost - and you don't have to build the boxes. Also, you can get replacement doors from Demetra if you need them later.”
