We came to Toby with a set budget and he did an excellent job of accommodating our budget while also keeping the important aspects of the design in play. Toby has a wonderfully creative mind and is not afraid to design a plan which is forward thinking while also based in traditional concepts used by his predecessors such as Bauhaus and Frank Lloyd Wright. Toby does a great job of considering the environment in building a "green" home while also taking into consideration how to incorporate elements such as sun and moonlight into the interior of the home. His use of the many windows, strategically placed, has been a source of pleasure for us as we enjoy beams of sun and moonlight daily. Toby goes above and beyond to ensure the home is structurally sound and to ensure that proper drainage is top of mind. Toby's understanding of modern style is paramount is his design and we were thrilled with the customizations.”

“Sasha from BLOK Architecture did a fantastic job redesigning the back of our 1920s home and adding on a screened porch and a deck. The entire process, from conception, to ironing out the details, to ensuring that everything was constructed as planned, went very smoothly. Sasha took a lot of time to listen to and understand what we were trying to accomplish. He initially presented us with 3 different concepts and then worked closely with us fine tune the details of the design. In addition, given the location of the house in a historic district, we needed to maintain the historic nature of the house and neighborhood and fulfill the requirements of the historic commission. Sasha was well versed in all of this as was very evident both in the ease with which we received approval and the way his design meshed so well with the rest of the house. It was amazing to watch what had been useless, awkward space develop into a beautiful bathroom, library, and laundry room. Meanwhile the porch makes us feel like we are relaxing out in the woods rather than actually in the center of Durham. Sasha even devised a system to allow us to enclose the screened porch for cold weather at some point, while maintaining the porch as open as possible. We can’t thank Sasha enough. He was able to accomplish all of our goals while maintaining the historic nature of the house and staying within our budget. What we ended up with was a house way beyond our dreams. The design was excellent, communication was very easy, the costs were very fair and transparent, and the end results were perfect.”

“Working with Belladomus has been a great pleasure. Their design plans have hugely improved the livability and attractiveness of our home. We especially appreciate their use of natural light to enhance the spaces. We staged our major home improvements in three phases, beginning in 2006 with addition of a screened porch, new decks, breakfast/sun room, and family room renovation. “I had a logical idea of how to expand my building by 2,000 square feet. I hired SX3 Architecture to prepare the drawings, get them through the building permit process and supervise my contractors. During our initial meeting, Sean, the principal, had some very good suggestions of how to make the additional space look much more interesting, and use it to improve the appearance of the existing building - it is now dramatic and contemporary instead of predictable and plain! We also shifted the additional space relative to the original building to create distinct and more usable rooms inside the building. Overall, the experience working with Sean, and the result, have far exceeded my expectations.”
