“In 2015, Mountain Road School in New Lebanon had grown by a whopping 70%. We desperately needed a new arts and multi-purpose space. In my capacity as Director of Facilities and Outreach, I worked with architect Chris Billingham to design an 800 sq ft. freestanding building (called "The Pines") that would fulfill our needs. Chris is an utter pleasure to work with; he listened to us so carefully and well, he had a clear understanding of the school's needs and financial limitations, and finally, he designed a space that was as beautiful as it was functional. Once completed, it was a joy to see the way the whole school community took to the space. It was perfect for our needs and almost as soon as it opened, it was hard to imagine life without it. Chris gets my highest recommendation; anyone who has the opportunity to work with him is lucky indeed. I'd hire him again in a heartbeat.”

“Working with Bill is like working with a best friend, he tells you like it is, not necessarily what you want to hear. This is a great trait for an Architect since the goal is to live happily and serenely with what has been done right the first time, not to live with the mistakes that you, as the home owner, thought would be best! He knows all there is to know about foundation work, framing, electrical, mechanical and the all important esthetics of a project. He makes it all look so easy too, he is patient, kind and politely assertive when necessary (and I am so glad I listened to him and did it "his" way on 2 occasions because he was absolutely right!) Building a house can be a onerous, unpleasant task but NOT if you have Bill Wallace working for you. His attention to detail is legion, as is his work ethic. He returns all calls, answers all questions, works within budget, completes all tasks within the agreed upon time frame,and does so always with a smile! He has planned 2 beautiful and comfortable homes for me, a Cape Cod and a Craftsman, both are a testament to his incredible abilities. “We had long admired the work of this talented duo (Ann McCallum and Andy Burr) and had especially enjoyed the success they had creating the Porches Hotel in North Adams, MA, which had a decidedly Mid-Century vibe. When we bought our little 1950's Cape in Williamstown we knew they'd be the perfect choice to update the house and convert it into an idyllic weekend and Summer retreat. Our goal was to remain true to the building's original mid-century roots and add a contemporary vibe at the same time. Working with a very modest budget, Burr & McCallum came up with a wonderful (and affordable) way to add a shed dormer, open up the interior, create a master bath and utilize standard materials (like Pella windows and IKEA kitchen cabinets) that gave us the look we wanted, yet stayed within our agreed to budget. They helped us identify and work with a great local contractor (Vince Martel) and were shoulder to shoulder with us throughout the process. They even brought a colorist in to ensure we got the bright, fun, cheery palette for the house that we desired. It was a really great collaboration -- they were wonderful listeners and always found a way to take our input and ideas and make them even better. In the end we got exactly the house we had hoped for and we credit that to the vision, talents and thoughtful approach that Ann and Andy use. I'm pleased to say that even though the house is a renovation and very modest in size and scope, it's been featured in Boston Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens and elsewhere. We can't say enough good things about this firm and recommend them highly.”
