“We are a growing family that found our home lacking space and functionality. While we preferred our location to other neighborhoods, we began looking for a new home that would offer the items on our must have list. We discovered that a new home with everything we wanted was going to push our budget to the max. Archrysalis helped us to find vision in our existing home. Our modest three bedroom ranch now offers a large master suite located in a split plan from the rest of the bedrooms with his and her walk in closets, master bath with double sinks, tiled shower, separate luxury tub and private toilet room. Also, we now have a functioning laundry room with mud sink and built in workspace area. The new outside area provides a great space for family time and entertaining. Through Archrysalis' design and vision, we were able to turn our house into our forever home at a fraction of the cost of a new home and also substantially increase the value of our current home. Architects Chris and Amarja are both easy to work with and extremely talented at turning your ideas into a reality. “My rating is actually 4+, but the system only allows for whole numbers. My wife and I contracted Ray Sheedy in 2004 to help us with the renovation of a 1927 home. We were still living in the Washington, DC area, but needed an architect/designer in the Charlotte area. After being referred to Ray and a brief conversation with him, he was immediately taking measurements and determining the feasibility of some of the things we were considering. We spent about two months collaborating with Ray and finalizing our plans. My wife commented several times about how well Ray listened and we were both impressed with his creative suggestions. The construction took another 6-7 months. During the construction process Ray checked on the progress and was available when things came up and we needed to make adjustments or decisions. Looking back, I should have taken his advice regarding more of the adjustments. He really was acting as our advocate and trying to ensure that the building was done according to the plan. We still live in the house and are really pleased with the design. The design has held up well and we are pleased with our decision to use an architect. We are surprised that so many people do major renovations without getting the professional help of an architect/designer.”
