The project included demolition of a closet that divided the condo’s large hall into two awkward spaces. Our new laundry is still under construction but we can already see it makes better use of the space. “Donna, Allan, and their architectural support team are amazingly and refreshingly personal, creative, professional, and responsive. They were able to take an old 70s ranch with all its oddities and convert it into a new craftsman style home. They listened carefully over many conferences to come up with a creative design, worked within our budget to get us what we needed, revised and revised patiently to get it perfect, and then followed up with on the job supervision and sometimes substantive changes on the fly, including invaluable help with the governmental review process. They all worked so well with our construction crew, who had their cell numbers for on the spot questions about plans or problems, of which, one can imagine, there were many. Thanks to Donna's architectural design (the neighbors are truly in awe of the front elevation and interior transformation), Allan's meticulously drafted plans (the city review board and fire teams said they had never seen such meticulous detail), and the respectful collaboration with all involved (we are all still talking to each other after what ended up being a tedious, four year project), we now have the transformed home we wanted when we started: solid as a rock and nearly soundproof, aesthetically consistent with the older parts of the house, and the openness, light, and functionality of a new home, even if it all drove Donna and Allan crazy sometimes trying to get it for us! They did it all with a smile, and with exceptional professionalism. They certainly went the distance for us, and are just an awesome team. They have my highest recommendation as an architectural firm.”

“We've had a series of major renovations on our home and Mark has done the design/drawings for each phase of construction. We gutted a basement that required lowering the floor to get better ceiling height. We added a master bath/laundry upstairs. And most recently, we redesigned our kitchen and added a family room and office off the back of the house for a more open floor plan and additional living space. Mark did an excellent job of keeping the design in line with the look of the rest of the house, but the floor plan is more open which is hard to find in older homes (ours is close to 90 years old). We have loved the new addition and Mark did such a great job of figuring out what we really wanted and making it all work. I would highly recommend Mark for your next renovation or new design project!”

Curtiss listened to our needs (even following my wife's Pintrest account), visited the site and surrounding neighborhoods, researched local requirements, and then QUICKLY synthesized all the information into plan and elevations that we could take to the architectural review board (ARB). We were able to complete the ARB review in one meeting, and then Curtiss worked with our contractor to develop the final contract documents. “Susan Bower did an outstanding job as the architect for the remodel of our condo at Lindell Terrace in the Central West End of St. Louis, MO. We purchased our condo for many reasons but one of the principal attractions was that this particular building allowed us to easily take down walls to open up the space and redo the layout to our liking. Susan was instrumental in helping design the perfect home for us. She started by trying to understand our vision and then offered alternative designs that took our initial thoughts and translated them into the clean, modern, practical, beautiful and elegant look we wanted. The use of lighting, something we had not focused on, was a creative way to enhance the space and give it a perfect atmosphere. Also, her vision on how to use all the space (where to put doors and where to move walls) was simply the best use of the space to achieve our goals. Besides her talents as an architect and designer, Susan demonstrated professionalism, competence and an ability to relate to people.
