“There are many architects and builders but few who have the skill, experience, and vision to design and build a green house. Looking for a modern architect in the area, we found Patrick's website and we got to know him before we hired him. We liked him immediately and never "interviewed' anyone else. We never regretted it. He shared our desire to build lightly, letting the surroundings influence the design and materials. He artfully brokered the inevitable differences of opinion between husband and wife, and we enjoyed the consultative process of working out the design together as a small team.
After the design was complete, we were happy to have him build the house, too, which has worked out beautifully. On complicated custom houses, there are many situations where unforeseen circumstances or questions arise, and things move more quickly and smoothly when the person responsible for constructing the house is the same person as the person who envisioned it. The house is not yet complete, but we are currently on budget (more or less) and the product is a work of art. I have suffered through many residential and commercial building projects over a lifetime, and this is the first one I've enjoyed.
If you're looking for a person with the sophistication and experience to design and/or build a complicated "dream house," Patrick is your man. And if you're not sure, ask him to take you to our house and show you what he is capable of creating. I think you'll come away a believer!”

“Peter LaBau is a rare Architect in that he has outstanding design sense coupled with an innate knowledge of what is in fact possible from a build-out perspective when it comes to managing towards a budget. Simply said, he does not design in a vacuum with no regard to cost. Peter and I have had the opportunity to work on a whole house renovation project in Boston as well as a build from scratch house project in Park City UT. In both cases I found Peter's work to be outstanding, timely and as I mentioned mindful of budgetary goals.
The two projects Peter and I collaborated on were drastically difference in style and location however they both shared one key trait, in a sense both projects were design/build efforts. One as part of his own firm at the time in Boston and the other in conjunction with a Park City builder where we created a virtual design/build shop between Peter's architectural services and our contractors on the ground building capabilities.
What has continued to draw me to Peter's architectural services has been his gift for understanding a particular genre of architecture and not injecting unnecessary or unidentifiable traits into the style. He's well honed at keeping a project within a particular genre and can offer a complete vision of what any given project could or should be while being mindful of the clients perspective and recognizing that while he has valuable opinions it is not ultimately he who will occupy the space. Peter also has an amazing gift of visualizing the space while it's on paper and conveying every potential detail to his client vividly both in words and in drawings. I've found that to be of great benefit over the various projects we've worked on together.
Above and beyond architecture Peter brings so many valuable skill sets to any project he's engaged in. He's incredibly professional, he's prompt, he's responsive, he's an excellent project manager, he challenges contractors to do things right and he also has extremely high interior design skills as well and was instrumental in things as mundane as color choices, tile selections and layout, fixtures and furniture layout.
All in all Peter has proven to be a great architect for me and my family and I look forward to working with him again on another project!”

“Anthony designed our "Green" house, to include geothermal heating, air conditioning, and hydronic radiant floor heat; all natural materials including reclaimed wood, all wood custom cabinets, stone/concrete floors, all-wood interior trim, cedar/stone/cement board exterior; all low/no VOC products; energy efficient casement windows; custom built vanities and other features; and attic design/rough-ins for future living space. Anthony was completely involved, provided oversight, and intervened when necessary, in every phase of the project, from design to building to punch list to warranty work. His knowledge and expertise resulted in a National Green Building Standard (NGBS) "Silver" rating, and his involvement and personalized service exceeded our expectations. You won't find anyone in the building industry more dependable and easier to with; he's like an island in shark infested waters.”
