“I was hired by landowners to design a custom home for them in Alaska-and my practice is in Oregon. I was not going to be able to visit the site while the home was under construction, and because I had worked on projects remotely in the past, I knew how important finding the right contractor was for all parties involved. After many recommendations for Wirtanen Inc, they were selected; and although they are a design-build company and had never worked with an architect before, Steven was enthusiastic. As the project got underway I was in regular contact with Steven and his Project Manager, Grant. They weren’t averse to using the specified materials and methods that were atypical to them, and I realized that any concerns I had about potential problems disappeared. Using a team approach that I am used to, questions came to me in a timely, unhurried manner - many times with photos attached. Wirtanen is a truly detail-oriented company that builds high-quality and highly efficient homes. The only complaint I have about Wirtanen, Inc is that they aren’t located in Oregon!”

“We started the process of looking for a home in Wasilla, AK, in the
summer of 2016. We looked at many homes and communicated with several builders online. We also made a trip to Wasilla to meet with our realtor and look at properties. She introduced us to Becky and Brian Monaghan. After looking at several possible floor plans that they could build, we found one that we really liked. Becky even invited us to their personal home so that we could see the style and quality of their construction and finishes. They also took us to one of their houses under construction to see their methods and materials. After meeting with the Monaghans and seeing their product we were excited to have them build our new home. They were both a joy to work with. They made sure that our questions were answered and assisted us greatly in the selection of materials and finishes. We were fortunate to be near by during the construction phase and were able to observe the house on an almost daily basis. We were impressed with the quality of work by Brian and his crew as well as his subcontractors. The work was professional as well as prompt. Our home was finished ahead of schedule for the price quoted. I would not hesitate to highly recommend Monaghan Construction to anyone considering home construction in the Wasilla area. We were extremely pleased with them and our new home.”

“David Brownfield of RDesign first spent several years patiently working with us to design a home that would not only fit onto a piece of land with challenging topography but that would meet all the functional needs of our family in the most aesthetically pleasing way possible. He then spent an additional year translating our complex plans into a beautiful home. He was willing to try new building techniques in order to create a home that was better built for the challenging climate we have here in Alaska -- most homes here are built as if they are in moderate climates. David was always cheerful and remained calm no matter what challenges developed throughout the building process. He kept me calm even when I didn't feel that way. His established subcontractors were, essentially, all a delight to work with and provided useful feedback as we made the detailed decisions necessary to build our custom home. He bent over backwards to keep us informed and provide us with a positive experience. I would build a home with him again.”
