We had a great experience working with Jan. Our house is older (1920s) and the kitchen was closed off, a little dark and didn't function well for us. We didn't have a prescriptive design in mind ahead of time, just more modern & open without losing the character of the house, which gave Jan the freedom to push the design boundaries a little. We were impressed with the multiple design options she delivered - not ones we would have come up with, and she had also listened to what we liked, what we didn't like and took note of our (slightly different) design aesthetics and blended it all really well. She also listened to our feedback and made changes to get the final design just right for us. I would highly recommend doing the 'Design Day' with Jan too. We learned a ton and felt investing that extra time was well worth it in terms of getting to the end design we did (e.g. I would never have thought to go with dark, flat panel cabinets). She also gave great advice on the space we needed (and didn't need) for cabinets, on function (what's useful, what's gimmicky) and made design suggestions on everything from floors, to hardware, to tile, to open shelving. She also helped elevate our mid-project idea for a living room fireplace reface so that it looks like it was part of the design from the start. Jan is a no nonsense professional, which we both appreciated. She also has great vendor contacts - all were high quality and took their time with us. She also recommended the general contractor, who we were also very happy with. Overall, we are really glad we worked with Jan on our kitchen remodel - she really helped bring it to the next level. Jan is truly amazing!! This is the second time we used Jan's design services and this time it was for a complete remodel of a 1980's mountain condo that was never touched. After listening to what we wanted Jan's creativity took over. She took our ideas and took them to another level. Through the entire process Jan always listened to us, was beyond patient, guided us through the process and took the reins especially when we were having issues with our contractor. On multiple occasions without blinking an eye she offered to make the long drive up to our condo to ensure everything was installed correctly and when there was a surprise pipe position issue behind one of the kitchen walls she made to the design change on the spot. We enjoyed working with Jan. She was organized and helpful every step of the way. The project went on and on because of delays on our part and then COVID challenges. She was patient and ready to move ahead with steps when we were. We appreciated the general contractor that she helped us find so very much, and he had excellent subcontractors that he brought. We are so glad we chose Jan to help us navigate the design process in reimagining a new kitchen layout. Our condo was built in 1984 and our master bathroom contained several artifacts from that era. The two most significant features were a sunken tub that was difficult to use, the two steps required to enter the bathroom, and another two steps to use the shower or the sunken tub. Our goal was to make the bathroom more ADA compliant as we modernized this space so that we would have a better chance of being able to age in place. Jan helped us accomplish our goals. Jan was very helpful throughout the entire process. It can take us a while to settle on some of the details but Jan was patient with us while keeping us on target. This was a delicate balancing act for her but she does it well. Jan also has great contacts throughout the industry, so she always had suggestions on sources and labor from start to finish. She was a very good partner in this endeavor. The pictures below show the demolition phase and the nearly final product.

We are doing a major rework of our spaces - baths, kitchen, living. Working with Jan has been a delight. Biggest plus is that she listens and incorporates client needs with her expertise in making sure all elements work harmoniously. Jan was referred to me by neighbors who were very impressed with the work that they had done on numerous bathrooms in their home. She planned a new large Master Bathroom for us. After a few interviews with the designers I decided Jan was the right person for my project. she sounds like knowing what she was talking and have a clean plan for the project in our first talk. She is professional and full of knowledge with the renovation and worked closely with the contractors to make sure the work be done correctly and on time. She didn't mind to walk extra mile to help the clients . I will use her again when I have another project.

A friend referred Jan Neiges to us as ‘the only choice we should consider’ for our extensive kitchen and bath renovations and boy, were they right! We usually interview and vet at least three professionals when starting any project, but we were so impressed with Jan’s clarity in communicating her process and in understanding what our scope of work would entail, that we hired her on the spot. It was only after we had retained her that we looked at her website and saw her reviews on Houzz and Google – wow! Our project presented Jan with two complex challenges and she executed both with creativity and precision. Challenge #1 - How to open up and transform our 1980’s, closed off galley kitchen to align with the other design elements we had already implemented throughout our home. She took her design ques from the smoke glass stair railing with dark metal framing and the stain color of the ceiling beams in the adjacent rooms. In her presentation, she suggested closing off odd ceiling nooks, widening doorways and removing awkward storage closets. She researched unique lighting options and ceiling fixtures, and made sure to include extensive and clever storage features. Wow, are we impressed! She captured the essence of our space and our home now looks as if it were designed around the kitchen instead of the other way around. Challenge #2 – The master bathroom was a rabbit den of a maze consisting of chopped up small rooms that created two completely separate his and her bathrooms fed by a main hallway. We were at a complete loss what to do in there and assumed that whatever we did do would have to work within the existing framework. Enter Jan. She measured the space and within weeks presented us with a variety of options, ultimately transforming the labyrinth of tiny rooms into a bathroom so open and so grand and is better than anything we could have ever imagined! I hope Jan shares pictures of her work because you truly have to see this transformation to believe it. She figured out how to raise the ceiling, designed a water closet completely enclosed by glass panels, created floor to ceiling art niches, introduced us to cool elements such as a feature wall shower complete with variable lighting and used resin panels for wall treatment and cabinet inlays. She somehow found room for a coffee station, towel warmers and a walk-in closet with more storage than I have clothes for. (But I’m working on that!) Our project presented several real time challenges as it got underway just as Covid hit. For several months, tradesmen could work only sporadically and supply chain issues threatened to completely halt our progress. But Jan’s ability to problem solve kept us moving forward. She was always available for phone calls, emails, texts and site visits. Each time we thought we had reached an impasse, she was able to ‘magically’ pull us out of the fire. Jan’s superpowers are her creativity and project management. She's the Best of Houzz for sure!

Our condominium community hired Jan to help us renovate two bathrooms located in the common area of the building. Jan listened to our requirements and gave us innovative ideas for making 45 year old bathrooms more contemporary and also capable of accommodating the needs of aging residents and guests. She has a keen understanding of how to make the area aesthetically appealing while also incorporating practical solutions for mobility challenged individuals.

We were overwhelmed when we decided to finish our 1400 sq ft unfinished basement, and didn’t where to start or what’s involved. My wife and I decided to remodel our kitchen because it was too small for both of us to cook together and also when we had people over, we couldn't visit with them while we were in the kitchen because there was a wall in the way. We met Jan at the Garden & Home Show when we attended her short seminar on what to think about before you remodel your kitchen or bathroom. We were impressed with her knowledge and background. We made an appointment a few days later and engaged her as our designer for the kitchen remodel. Wow. We had no idea what all is involved in a project like this. Jan worked closely with us for the next several months and was with us, teaching us, delivering CAD drawing after drawing; doing everything she could to make sure the design spoke to both of our requirements. She was responsible front to end for the selection, purchase, delivery of every appliance, countertop, and cabinet we selected. She also identified a general contractor to do the actual renovation from demolition to painting to detailing. We could not have asked for more.

Jan worked her magic transforming our tired looking 40 year old house into a fabulous home with a fresh new look which reflected our tastes. Day with a designer was a terrific way to start the process. Jan Learned what my style was like and pointed me in the write direction. She brought her wisdom to redesigning our kitchen, master bath and a huge fireplace. She pointed me to the best suppliers for flooring, plumbing fixtures ,appliances and tile and flooring. She was able to focus my tastes and selections, but made sure they were my choices. Jan guided us through the remodeling/renovation of our mountain ski condo, significantly challenged by the COVID pandemic and the distance from our home in Denver. She had a great “ear” for hearing what I wanted/liked (even when I didn’t know) for understanding our life-style, my taste and our budget, and to push a bit to move me out of my comfort zone into some changes that have been perfect. She has a great “eye” for design, so the finished product is amazing. She was able to shepherd me through the selection process (appliances, furniture, cabinets and other design elements) keeping within our budget, preventing my becoming overwhelmed by choices or veering off into the outrageous. Among the highlights, she has changed a small, cramped, dark kitchen into a bright, more spacious, compact but highly functional area that I could never have envisioned. We love the changes. In addition to her design skills, she was incredibly supportive and helpful as we encountered a number of snags: she advocated strongly when installations or deliveries were cancelled or delayed, promptly found alternatives when changes were required, and coordinated the moving parts that were particularly complicated. She has clearly exceeded our expectations in both her services and her support, and I highly recommend her without reservation.

We worked with Jan for about two years on a massive renovation of our Denver home. While the project originally started as adding on a family room and guest suite, Jan brought to the table an amazing design that actually turned our current kitchen into a family room and made the new renovated space a kitchen. it was a great idea and one we went forward with. Jan was amazing. We took a very long time to decide our design and she stuck with us the whole way. Her insight into how the design would all come together was invaluable. My house is nearly 100 years old and I’ve been crazy busy with work! Jan just got things done! Plus she’s fun and knowledgeable on new products, but also knows how to do ANYTHING in ANY PRICE POINT. Jan designed the entire first floor of our home. It was a very big project that included removing walls, reconfiguring rooms and creating a new interior entrance. Jan started the project by getting to know us and how we planned to us the space and how we live. She then presented us with five different visions for the space; we talked through these options and then came up with a hybrid plan. Having spent a considerable time working through the design led to a very smooth execution of the plan. At this point, Jan really had a sense of who we were. We spent a day going to various showrooms and vendors. With great efficiency we made our appliance, flooring, cabinetry and plumbing decisions. As would be expected, there were some hiccups in the course of the project but Jan worked, as best as she was able, to minimize these problems. In the end, I would say that we are very pleased with the design and selections that we made with Jan. Our home is even more then we had hoped for.

Jan was very clear on her services and completed them to a tee. Jan helped me visualize my dream kitchen and bathroom. She was absolute great working with all the contractors. She educated me on the processes and on the difference in prices for different types of cabinet and appliances. Jan helped me design a beautiful bath where we did nothing cookie cutter, including the shower curtain and closet design. My narrow gallery kitchen now looks large, inviting and colorful. I might have to start cooking for friends and family again. Without Jan's help I would still be looking for a contractor and trying to figure out my design. I could not have completed the remodel without her.

Jan has a no-nonsense communication style that is professional and detailed. For our full kitchen renovation, she listened to our needs and preferences, made suggestions and recommendations, pushed our comfort zone, and ultimately came up with a design in our very challenging space that we love. I emphasize her communication style because so often professionals walk over your ideas, dismiss them, or generally make the customer feel as though they haven't been heard. Jan LISTENS and delivers. I started working with Jan in summer 2019 after being introduced to her by my neighbor. It was our lucky day when we saw a presentation by Jan at a home show. We were very impressed then and remained impressed throughout this process. She was such a help with her vision of the overall project, the help she gave to narrow down so many decisions, her advice on manufacturers, and the pricing she was able to procure for us. After reading all of the glowing reviews, I wanted to meet Jan to discuss my kitchen remodel. Jan responded to my email immediately and she came to my home the following week. Never having worked with a designer before, she was everything I hoped for and found no need to interview anyone else for the job. From the moment Jan entered my home, she was warm, friendly and easy to talk to about the project. In fact, I brought her into the kitchen and I can clearly remember her saying, “What works for you? What doesn’t work for you? She provided us with a list of vendors that she recommends working with, including a place to purchase appliances, flooring, tile, and stone, etc. We did not have to commit to any of the places she recommended, however chose to use two of them, as well as one of her contractors, which we felt was an easy decision because she could easily perform as a project manager and assist in keeping things on track. Jan’s experience and insightfulness were truly what I valued the most during my time working with her. She would point out things that she felt were important, for example, paying attention to details inside a cabinet for organization, which we may have not considered, but love so much about our new kitchen! Also, remodeling a kitchen is an extremely stressful process and Jan was always a phone call or email away to talk through my indecisiveness or reassure me about my decisions. We hired Jan to help us coordinate choices of color and material for our new mountain contemporary home, more specifically for the kitchen and baths. Jan, carefully listened to our desire to install Fieldstone base and wall cabinets in our small laundry room to have storage in the wall cabinets, utility base cabinets, a countertop and a utility sink. She designed an efficient perfect layout involving stacking the washer and dryer, four base base cabinets for a sink, pullout shelves for laundry products, a recycling pull out basket, and a dirty clothes hamper. The cabinets matched the cabinets in an adjacent hallway perfectly in design and color even though those cabinets were from a different manufacturer. She also used an excellent contractor to install the cabinets flawlessly and cleverly redo the plumbing so all pipes and valves were hidden in the sink base cabinet. Jan was patient and flexible making sure we understood every detail. We love the beauty and utility of our new laundry room and would highly recommend Jan.

Jan was EXTREMELY helpful. We were working under tight time constraints and Jan still was able to find us a great variety of products that fit within our timeline. In addition, Jan was able to find products for our various projects at different price points. I would highly recommend Jan Neiges if you are looking for a kitchen designer. Our kitchen was a challenge. We were not in the position of just replacing things, like cabinets and appliances. We needed a completely new design. Jan provided everything we were looking for in a designer. We knew how we wanted the kitchen/dining area to feel, but no idea how to get there. She worked with us to design the space (more than once!) and it is perfect. It was very easy to become overwhelmed by both the process and the variety of products in the marketplace. I think the most valuable service Jan provided was to help us narrow our selections of products and also to be selective about the process itself. We never felt we were paying for something that was extraneous or that we were unsure of. She was clear on what needed to happen, who needed to do what, and how long the process would take. Using Jan's vendors not only saved us money, but we knew we were getting a good product. When one piece turned out to be “bad”, it was replaced and we did not pay a cent for the labor to put in the new product – because we were working with Jan. Jan was very good at the overall design process, and recommended an outstanding contractor. During planning and construction, she responded very quickly to emails, concerns, etc. She had great problem solving skills when the inevitable snafu was encountered. We purchased a home that needed a significant amount of work in May 2014 with the intent of moving into the property by mid-June. Completing this project long distance and in a seven week timeframe meant finding a team we could trust not only to give us great ideas and solutions, but also to keep the project moving forward. In late April, I saw the house for the first time and met with Jan (also for the first time) for a marathon "Day with the Designer" session over two days. Jan helped me design and create an update to an existing kitchen. She was very responsive to my needs & wants, yet very respectful of my need to stay within a budget. She was insightful and anticipated some of my needs before I realized them. I was extremely pleased with the end result of my project. We had a cabinet come in that was the wrong size, but she was able to get that turned around in a very timely manner, so that there was little or no delay in the overall project. Her knowledge of costs helped us get a “sharp pencil” estimate from the cabinet company and her knowledge of how the entire process should proceed helped to move us further down the road in two days than we had been able to do in several repetitious years of trying to do the planning on our own. Jan was extremely personable and helpful getting our home renovation project started. She met us at her cabinet showroom and immediately showed interest in helping us out even if it was just a home visit and some ideas. She came to our space and proceeded to make a few layout for us based on houzz pictures we sent and reviewed with her. Based on our likes from houzz she came up with our dream kitchen and house layout. She created a space we hadn't thought of and didn't even know was really possible at the time. We hired Jan as a consultant to facilitate the design of our master bathroom. We needed help communicating our vision, and ultimately, we needed a plan of attack. The project was a complete renovation and the process felt daunting for two busy professionals. Jan was involved at the onset and did a terrific job of listening to our needs. She developed our list of objectives and offered suggestions on concepts and layouts. She provided sample materials, which we loved! We were thrilled with the quality of products and the way she assembled them. We certainly did not know where to start and she offered us the best resources within our budget. I believe Jan has a lot of committed clients that truly enjoy working with her. My recommendation, or suggestion, to future clients would be to ensure the entire process is organized prior to construction. She could have spent a little more time in determining the best way possible to execute the project and communicating it to all parties involved (i.e. contractors, suppliers). It would have helped to have all of the details mapped out precisely into a succinct schedule. This would avoid confusion and minimize minutia. Jan's fee was very reasonable and I'm sure that she put in a great deal of time into our project. Jan was a pleasure to work with. I would certainly recommend her services!

Throughout our bathroom remodel Jan Neiges remained committed yet flexible. The project consisted of remodeling a 19 year old master bathroom and bedroom. Our space was confined to the original footprint of the bathroom and bedroom which limited certain options. We needed assistance with materials, design vision and subcontractors. Jan started but reviewing our overall vision and our estimated budget. She quickly scheduled a time to see the space and spend considerable time getting to know our likes and dislikes. Jan brought us professional and competent subcontractors committed to a contract schedule. The creative sessions prior to the remodel consisted of well researched options, documented prices and a delightful exchange of ideas. Jan was never frustrated if we needed more time to survey our options. She always sought out a solution that would tie into our overall vision. We plan to live in our house for another 20 years so our decisions hold a more permanent feel to us. She worked hard to avoid surprises and checked in during the project. Her eye for color and the little touches completed our vision for the master bathroom. We met Jan at our local Home and Garden Show and were impressed with her presentation regarding kitchen remodels. Within two weeks she came to our home and we gave her our budget and our list of needs, wants and desires for a total kitchen remodel. At her first visit she gave suggestions for designing our kitchen layout to be more efficient than the original 1950's layout. Her design also took into consideration the features of our house, such as the cove ceiling which she duplicated in the crown molding above the cabinets. When we hired her she gave us a realistic timeline for the completion of the job. Jan gave us options of products to choose from and people to do the work based on our budget. Jan listened extensively to us, on how we planned on living in our new log home, and what our hobbies, passions and collections were. During the construction phase, she turned unusable space into art niches for our extensive art collection. She was concerned about how elongated the great room had been designed by the architect and made sure to make the space feel wider by creating interesting angles in our kitchen, and turned a fireplace into an interesting piece of artwork.
