For years I had been searching for a small dining table in a dark, earthy brown. I wanted it to pull in history like a whirlwind, kick up the raw smell of dirt, tumble the rugged American West into the rustic Spanish countryside. Maybe I have a weakness for marketing. But Pier 1 Imports and Crate & Barrel had lured me with their romantically named “Arapaho” and “Basque” furniture sets. The problem was, like a lot of major retailers, they did not offer such dining tables in smaller sizes. I kept looking. Finally, this summer I came across the website of Saltwoods. At last, a local studio that lets you customize every element from dimensions, to wood species, to color! The variety of choices is amazing. I picked a stain called “tobacco” on white oak and the vision of my Basque table was complete. Now my dining area is so warm and inviting – I feel there’s a fireplace even when there isn’t. The food and wine taste better. It was impressive, too, that despite global shortages of raw material and labor, the production was completed sooner than projected. The price fit my budget and the entire Saltwoods team was a pleasure to deal with. They worked with me to get the details just right, and really seem to take pride in their work. The guys who made the table also delivered it. Customer service is first class. I’m so happy to have found this studio. It’s now one of the first places I shop when I need something special. Dan and the Saltwoods team are simply amazing! We stopped by his showroom on a whim as we were searching for different options for our kitchen island, and we could not have been more thrilled with result! Dan hand-crafted an island counter top to meet the quirky specifications of our space and the sink that sits (almost-but-not-quite) in the middle of the island. Dan helped us think through a bunch of options for our space (woods, corners, finishes, etc.), and we ultimately followed every one of his recommendations. The result is stunning, and our friends and family have absolutely gushed over the result! We love our new island so much that we are planning to order a table in the same cherry wood from Dan for our dining room next year. His craftsmanship and professionalism are second to none, and, best of all, he is so much fun to work with. Thank you so much, Saltwoods!

I happen to be a knowledgeable woodworker, and I was more than happy to outsource a table build like this to Saltwoods. My focus was equally on form and function. Our reclaimed oak trestle table is gorgeous, and it's a rock-solid build. Saltwoods worked with me continually during the concept and design phase, which began by looking at one of their floor models and making some adjustments before the build began. This table will last a lifetime and beyond, I'm sure of it. The mortise and tenon joints are as strong as possible, and I really approve of the method they use to attach the top to allow for seasonal expansion and contraction. These choices and details matter a lot when making an investment like this. One final detail- the medallion inlay on the table base is a nice touch. The latitude/longitude coordinates are a great nod to the source of our reclaimed wood. Simply put, Saltwoods creates beautiful, functional, long-lasting tables. A+.

Dan and his team are amazing. They spent a great amount of time with us explaining options and listening to what we wanted. Every step of the process was easy. We had complete trust in them. Delivery was perfect. The bench and chairs are magnificent. The table is jaw-dropping beautiful. Truly masters at their craft. We ordered a farm style table from Saltwoods and could not be happier! When I stumbled across Saltwoods online, we were a little intimidated that the showroom was by appointment only but Dan was so great to work with. He spent an hour or more explaining the different wood types and options. We decided on a reclaimed oak table and love it! As others have mentioned, shortly after we put in our order, we made a change to the finish and Saltwoods was more than accommodating. We love having a custom piece and know we will enjoy it for many years to come. Looking forward to working with Saltwoods in the future as we tackle other rooms in our house.

We are very happy with our table and matching bench. They look wonderful and are easy to upkeep with our young kids. We had spills and crayons on it and it is looking brand new with a little sanding and danish oil. Dan and his crew were very professional and helpful throughout the process. They listened to what we were looking for in a table and helped us with design choices. They delivered as promised. We would highly recommend them!!

Dan and his team built us an amazing Kitchen Island/Table. Dan spent 2 hours with us going over the types of wood, table construction and leg options. Based on what we planned to do with the table Dan helped guide us to the wood, finish, and construction that met our needs. We love to bake: pies, cookies, cakes and bread so we needed a surface that would work well with lots of flour being spilled. Thus new mahogany wood with the Danish Oil finish. We love it! Everyone that comes to the house wants to remove their islands and have one of these instead.

My husband and I had a custom kitchen work table made by Saltwooods. Dan and all the Saltwoods craftsmen created a beautiful piece that will surely be handed down as an heirloom to our daughters. When visitors arrive at our new home the Saltwoods table is the center of attention. The professional, creative and customer service attention that Dan and his craftsman provided was second to none. Have you had a dream of having something completely designed for you? Well this is it... a farm table for my family - an heirloom for me to pass down to my children( the lucky one who draws the straw:-)). Saltwoods is first class, from design to delivery. I now have a story to tell every night sitting at my 92" Reclaimed Lexington, Kentucky, 1908 Tobacco Barn. My kids do their homework, we eat together sharing "best part of your day" and I look at the memories I am adding to this barn's long century of boards. Now those beautiful boards rest on a trestle base that we call our dinner table, or home!

I had a custom table and bench made by the incredible people at Saltwoods and I could not be happier. I wanted a rustic table that could fit into my odd sized dining room and my table is perfect. I love that I know exactly where the wood came from and that my table is different than any other I have seen. We recently hosted Thanksgiving and my table was the talk of the dinner. The staff was easy to work with, they walked me through choosing all the dimensions and finishes, and delivered the table on time with care.
