Matthew Charlton was the interior designer and person responsible for two projects in my condominium in Florida. Both were highly successful. The first was my master bedroom suite and involved extensive design and decoration work. The second was a complete transformation of the master bathroom with striking cabinetry and woodwork and a color palette that is worthy of any interior design magazine. From the beginning, Matt listened carefully to me to make sure that he understood my wishes and ideas. He incorporated his own professional concepts and correctly interpreted our conversations to make sure that each project captured both his vision and my style extremely well. The results surpassed my most optimistic expectations. Not only did he fulfill my early concepts, but he also enhanced them with his most creative designs. He also accomplished the most impossible goals in the interior design field: finishing both on time and under budget. Clearly, Matt is a creative and diligent designer. On both projects, Matt was professional and at the same time, considerate, kind, understanding and a delight to work with. He was on the job in person the entire time and had a major hands-on role in each project. Matt was great! I'm a young, busy professional in the DC area (Ashburn, VA) who had just bought my first house in 2012. The house was completely empty for a while, and I didn't have a whole lot of time or budget to decorate. Matt took care of every step of the project--I didn't have to do a thing! He took a blank canvas and completely transformed the place! (You should ask to see the before/after pictures.) The best part was, I got an amazing looking place on a tight budget!

We hired Matthew to re-design our dated 1980's dressing room, and WOW, he did just that. With the application of contemporary brass fittings, glass subway tiles, granite countertop, and a customized vanity, we are now able to enjoy an elegant, sophisticated, and urbane enviornment. From start to finish, he was on-site to supervise all aspects of the craftsman's work. Matthew was delightful to work with. His cost estimates were on target, as was his projected completion date. The entire project was a wonderful experience. Next on our list, is to have Matthew design our kitchen and living room.

After my wife died more than a decade ago, I bought a condo with a large living and dining room, an equally large library, a kitchen, good-size bedroom, hallway, two bathrooms & a lavatory, and an unused fifth floor terrace with a good view of the Potomac. Because I had seen some of Matthew Charlton's outstanding work in Florida, I asked him to help re-design the apartment. In the years since then he transformed the living room, replaced worn old furniture with new furniture, except for a few antiques that fit the new design; he brought color and life to a relatively darker library, put ingeniously configured lighting in both large rooms. He turned the terrace into a simple, usable place of beauty. He has great skill in finding just the right furniture for bargain prices, he is able to do much of the work on his own, and to choose and manage contractors when necessary. As I can afford it, I am eager to see him transform the bedroom and bathrooms with the same high standards. He is dedicated to his work, and works with humor and high spirits. Guests are struck by the change and seek his advice on how to do the same in their homes.

I retained Matthew Charlton to provide the design for a complete renovation of two bedrooms, together with adjoining baths. He carried out this work in a professional manner, producing excellent drawings that could be easily followed by various sub-contractors that were involved. In several cases he worked directly with suppliers in the creation of unique cabinetry, countertops, etc. He was always solicitous of my input and never attempted to impose his ideas unilaterally. The results were excellent and I get many compliments on the what was accomplished. I consider Matthew to have a very good design sense, and certainly is easy to work with.
