Kemp Residence II
From Susie - I only put this in here to show you an idea for artwork in the living room. This, is a rug, but the idea of something like this above your sofa would be awesome. Then we tie in the bright focal wall behind the bookshelves to a color that resonates with you in the artwork. If you like this idea...we just need to find a piece of artwork that you love for that space.
We must use a couch with color somewhere. we'll have to choose the color schemes for each room based on furniture we can find that you like...and that fit the space appropriately Ok, that makes sense. White with kids is out, we need something that can withstand spills and is easy to clean. From Susie: Yes - definitely now white couches! :)
plz tell me what you like most in this shot It feels like it tells a story. I think I'm pulled to rooms that look a little chaotic but have so many personal touches you can tell the people that live there have a story to tell. Adventures have been had! From Susie: I LOVE that you shared this!! This is a great insight into what visually pleases you. And, I get that. Totally. I can relate to this thought too. I've been there in my mind. We can definitely incorporate this into your design.
I'm really seeing what your desires are...and getting a feel for you guys! This is way cool. I have one of these meditation pillows in my sitting room :). My husband is from South Africa, grew up in Johannesburg until he came here for college when he was 18. We've traveled all over Europe and visited his best friend and second family growing up in Australia. Both his family and his best friends family have traveled extensively and use all those influences in their decorating. Lots of color and memories in their houses! From Susie: Wonderful share. Thank you for that!! My youngest daughter, Megan, is in Bondi Beach currently. Second time. Loves it there. It's neat how much you guys have traveled. I'm really beginning to get a feel for your essence and what you like to see. This is very exciting to me - because I'm seeing this as a totally cool, fun house design project. The end result is going to be awesome!
Wall collages are favorites of mine. I'm all for it. what else did you like in here? couch color? I liked the wall collage :) From Susie: Excellent. I see us gathering travel souvenirs and combining them with photos and eclectic frames and doing at least one major display in your home, maybe two. The fun factor is important and this is where we tie it in to what you loved in the above photo that reflects the depth of experience in your life and your travels. You will see it every time you walk into that space.
I would like your entrance to have a splash of bold like this to instantly give a nod to how much you enjoy the pops of color in your world! It doesn't have to be this exact one...but you get the idea. Then we will pull colors from it for your accent wall in Living Rm and the accents we have throughout the house. I love this idea!
Notice here that the moulding piece on the side of the fireplace ties the woodwork in to the mantle. You can do the same. Would you ever consider painting the fireplace? I know you don't love the beige - but how about white? I also love the wallpaper ...which is another thing we could consider, to wallpaper one wall. This one is cool because the paint is so close to the wallpaper color it blends well.
Jamie: simple lines, not sure why I like grey so much.
