Focal Point: I think it is very evident that the focal point in this room is the gorgeous off-white fire place.

Mass: I think that these two interesting nautical coffee tables are big and chunky and have a lot of mass that creates a more filled space.

Forms: in this room is a couple different examples of forms. The yellow cube and the blue cylinder behind the cube are two examples of 3-dimensional forms.

Shapes: all over the wall and even on one of the pillows is a bunch of 2-dimensional triangular shapes.

Asymmetrical Balance: I think the asymmetry in this room is very obvious. The two grey panels behind the couch are very asymmetrical because you would think that there should be a third one, but there isn't and the tall floor lamp sort of balances out that asymmetry.

Closed Space: the furniture choices in this room leave us feeling closed in because there is a lot of positive space in the room.

Type of rhythm - Radiation: the round glass coffee table is where the radiation begins in the room and expands to the seating around it.

Harmony - Unity: the unity in this room is created by the book shelf which groups the same items all in one place creating a more unified look.

Types of lines: in this picture is every type of line. There are curved lines, horizontal lines, vertical lines, and diagonal lines. The lines in this room are definitely the main attraction of it.

Color: the color scheme of this room is very simple. There are whites and off-whites and a tad bit of green. The effect of these colors brings a calm and soothing feel to the room because you are not distracted by many colors.

Pattern: in this room the color scheme is not extremely varied, but what adds interest to this room are the many different patterns. The patterns are different from the art, to the pillows, to the coffee table.

Texture: in this picture there are several different types of textures. The rug and a couple pillows bring a more soft aspect to the room. The small woven piece of furniture adds some rough texture to the room and also the couch looks rippled on the front.

Types of lines: in this room there are several different types of lines from the diagonal lines on the side table to the vertical and horizontal lines on the window and ceiling.

Type of rhythm - Progression: the progression in this photo is the progression from the first arch to the last arch.

Type of rhythm - Contrast: the color scheme in this design provides for a lot of contrast. The browns and blacks contrast majorly from the lighter more soft off-white colors.

Type of rhythm - Repetition: in this room repetition comes in the form of color. Virtually the same exact color is repeated from the wall to the fabrics and the decor.

Proportions: in this room is a great example of the golden mean. The white trim is 1/3 of the way up on the wall and adequately balances out the room.

Harmony - Variety: the variety in this picture includes woods, and metals, and plants, and stone. In my opinion, the variety of this room brings great harmony and is very pleasing to the eye.

Type of rhythm - Transition: the choice in color scheme (mainly the greens and yellows and greys) of the decor between the two rooms makes for a good transition between the dining/kitchen area into the living room.

Light: the amount of light that comes into this room is tremendous, and the fact that all the architectural design is white brightens the room incredibly. The dark choices in furniture and decorations really saves the eye from being overwhelmed by the light. I love the decor.

Scale: the scale between the size of the furniture and the room is good. For example: the two rocking chairs have more negative space and therefore allow more room for your eyes to wander. If there were bigger love seat type of chairs they might overwhelm the space a bit.
