Great Camp screened porches were plentiful and offered connection to the outdoors without the bother of bugs and rain. This sleeping porch adds charm to a cabin, creating a dreamy space to listen to the birds or the splash of a nearby lake. The tongue-and-groove-lined ceiling and painted window trim are staples of Adirondack style. Designer/Builder: Lands End Development
The master bedroom’s white-on-white palette gains depth from layers of contrasting textures, including rough shiplap walls, smooth porcelain plates, and the coarse hair-on-hide bed.

5. Warm Grays With the cold, dark days of winter quickly advancing upon us, I’m sure many of you are loath to deck out your bedroom in a cold gray hue. Keep the chill at bay by going for a gray with plenty of brown to warm it up. This is my go-to neutral for those who need a change from beige.

2. Blue-Grays A soft blue with a hint of gray is a fantastic choice to create a soothing, relaxing vibe in a bedroom. Those who live in areas where cool and overcast days outnumber warm and sunny ones may want to opt for a hue with more blue and less gray.
Here, the bed wall is showcased in a beautiful wood. This design detail transforms the bedroom by adding a rustic atmosphere to balance the white and glass. Design tip: If you want to get the look of reclaimed wood, call a professional to help you choose and install a wood that works for your room.
11. Planked A wooden ceiling is clearly the crowning glory of this narrow bedroom. The minimalist decor and neutral palette below encourages the eye to look up. Design tip: You don’t have to plank your ceiling in wood to get a strong architectural feature. Ordinary wooden structural elements, like wood flooring or refinished wooden window frames, can also be beautiful design features in a wood-and-white room.
Sauna-like A prominent wooden architectural detail can certainly be the star feature of your wood-and-white bedroom, if you’re in the fortunate position of already having one in place or to be getting one via a remodel. Why it works: Creating a simple white palette to surround wooden detail allows the wood to draw the eye. With a star feature such as this ceiling and bed wall, the rest of the room need not be particularly expensive — simple, cost-effective white furniture and textiles suffice.

A wood-and-white bedroom doesn’t have to go completely without color. You can add neutral tones such as beige and gray or, if you prefer, subtle hints of bright shades. Why it works: When kept to a minimum, as shown here, a little color can create an exciting feature within your still soothing palette.
Romantic Hideaway This romantic bedroom is a strong example of using shapes and shades of white to elevate a wood-and-white room. Large vertical swaths of fabric and the curved silhouette of the chairs, all in white, enhance the elegant, primarily monochromatic palette. Design tip: Choose a different texture within the same hue for each silhouette. For example, select a square pillow in perhaps a silk fabric for your curved velvet armchair. This contrast in shape and fabric will create further visual interest and give the room a cohesive and designed look.
When you think of a palette of wood and white, a sleek kitchen might come to mind, or even a modern sunroom. But this neutral and serene pairing can also be a winning combination for the bedroom. White adds a clean, calm feeling to a room, while the warm tones and organic textures of wood create depth and visual interest, particularly against a white backdrop. Thanks to its simplicity, it’s not difficult to achieve a well-designed look with this pared-down palette. Check out these 12 bedrooms for inspiration.
There’s no rule that says a headboard can’t be wider than the bed. The design team at Viv & Leone added a custom upholstered headboard that covers the bed wall from end to end in this stylish San Diego bedroom.
If you want to make a dramatic statement on the wall behind your bed, take a cue from this New York City bedroom designed by Studio HB. The design team covered the entire bed wall in a charcoal-hued hemp wallpaper that visually anchors the space.
1. Paneled Perfection A bed wall with a peaked ceiling is a large area to cover with paint, wallpaper or art. The team at Wendy Mauro Design opted to go a different route for this bedroom in Charleston, South Carolina. The designers added custom paneling that introduces depth and texture to the wall. No art required, just a fresh coat of white paint.
