Lift The Eye and The Cabinets
The original cabinets were refinished and reused in this kitchen renovation. The low cabinets over the cooktop were lifted to ceiling height to allow for a new induction cooktop and stainless steel hood. Lifting the cabinets allowed reuse while meeting new building codes. As a plus the lift brings the eye up making this low ceiling kitchen seem taller. This is a nice trick in a kitchen when you don't want to move all the cabinets or replace. It also adds interest to a row of cabinets. The original perimeter footprint was kept saving money on plumbing and rewiring along with tile and countertop expense. The original large microwave and oven space supplied enough room for a new oven stack complete with convection oven, micro convection, and warming drawer. The cabinet above the oven stack got minor adjustments in size. White tile was found to match without replacing all the back splash. Molding was added to the cabinet tops. Removal of the old oversized hood provided room for pull out spice racks.
