This was a great little design-build project for some great clients!
We oversaw the construction of the shed, designed and built the pergola, deck, outdoor kitchen, water feature, flagstone patio, as well as installing the plants, irrigation and landscape lighting. So pretty at night!

One of the most remarkable aspects of this project is how the pergola and the clam shell-colored Trex deck were thoughtfully designed to complement and highlight the existing large red oak tree. Rather than overshadowing or competing with its natural beauty, the design gracefully worked around the tree, creating a harmonious coexistence between human craftsmanship and nature’s elegance.

The Pergola: A Perfect Fusion of Steel and Cedar
The focal point of this project is undoubtedly the large pergola, which we carefully constructed from steel C-channel and rough cedar purlins. The combination of these materials resulted in a striking aesthetic that effortlessly marries strength and natural beauty. The warm tones of each play off one another and come alive in the sunlight, while the alternating basketweave layout of the slats offer even more visual interest as well as variation in the provided shade. The design concept was carefully planned to ensure the purlins fit snugly into the channel, cleverly concealing any visible fasteners. This attention to detail adds to the sleek and streamlined appearance of the pergola, elevating its visual appeal and rustic elegance.

WOHN(T)RÄUMEDirekt nach der Fertigstellung:
Auf kleinster Fläche ist ein Traumgarten entstanden. In der Diagonalen befindet sich der neue Platz für die Loungeecke. Großformatige Platten leiten geschickt zum Sitzplatz, zum Weg und zur Hütte. Gleichzeitig sind sie dabei so angeordnet, dass sie wie Design-Elemente wirken und so das Aussehen des Gartens prägen. In die Führung aus der eckigen Anordnung fügt sich das Wasserspiel perfekt ein. Gleichzeitig sorgt es dafür, dass nur der Gang um die Ecke auf den neuen Sitzplatz führt. Dies lässt den Garten größer wirken als er tatsächlich ist.
Von der bereits vorhanden Terrasse aus schaut man nun nicht mehr auf das Gartentor und das Nachbarhaus, da der Cornus geschickt platziert wurde.
Die restliche Bepflanzung aus Hortensien, Stauden und Gräsern fügt sich der linearen Anordnung. Durch regelmäßige Wiederholungen wird die gewünschte Üppigkeit entstehen, sobald die Lücken zugewachsen sind. Die hohe Anzahl an Pflanzen wurde durch den Verzicht auf Rasen möglich.

Blöchle und Schwaller GbRDie Geometrie des neuen Gartenteils passt sehr gut zur Gebäudekubatur. Die Farben der Fensterrahmen wurden bei den Stahlträgern der Pergola wieder aufgenommen.

Dan Hartley GardensThe clients are a sociable couple who wanted a garden that had year round interest, low maintenance and that they could entertain in. The garden is covered by a frame work of Oak beams providing a sense of enclosure. In time the scented star jasmine climbers will cover the fences and the beams, planting around the upper garden and below the bespoke corner bench will immerse the space in green. Low maintenance porcelain paving with an inset clay paver feature adds interest. A lounge area, Dining space, BBQ unit and bike store all built in Iroko hard wood. Small gardens have to work hard to balance function with aesthetic!
