Auch im Winter verliert ein japanisch gestalteter Garten nichts von seiner Faszination.

So sah der Garten vor der Umgestaltung aus. Es wurden großzügig neue Beete geschaffen und der vorhandenen monotone Bewuchs gerodet.

This redesign of an outdated landscape for a waterfront home on Cape Cod reacts directly to the site conditions and existing topography. An elevated septic system has been regraded and replanted with native species to more fluidly blend with the undulations of the natural landscape, while a fountain and reflecting pool mark the level of the 100-year flood, to which the site is susceptible. The shifting series of wood decks and boardwalks appear to float and hint at the natural processes at work on the site, while providing outdoor dining and relaxation areas anchored by a bold red screen fence that ties the landscape to the architecture.

Designed to echo the clean lines of the site this landscape has two sheer descent waterfalls, two pool like water features, front and back areas of synthetic lawn, a deck that overlooks the city of Century City. The attitude of the site was created to function for entertainment as well as relaxation. With a minimalistic palette the areas were clearly defined. -- Let us help you put all the concepts that you gather together into a beautiful landscape. We have designers in the office and we are a fully licensed landscape contractor. So we are available to design and install your landscape.

Quarry Mill
This stunning retaining wall and walk-out basement showcase the Quarry Mill's Cheyenne real granite cobblestone thin veneer. Cheyenne is a natural granite thin stone veneer in earthy browns and greys. The stone is cut from natural granite that is collected rather than quarried in the traditional sense. Cheyenne is a true fieldstone in that it is the top layer of the bedrock; the pieces broke off over time and worked their way through the topsoil. This process naturally stained the black and white stone to the brown and tan pieces we see today. To add variation, we split some of the pieces to show the interior colors. The split pieces technically fall into more of the mosaic style but as a whole Cheyenne is a cobblestone.

Several steps were taken to minimize the risk of the deck igniting. Embers like to collect under decks where they can use collected leaf litter as fuel to gain enough heat to burn wood. We prevent that by sealing off the under-side of the deck with concrete hardy board. Next, two layers of irrigated and mulched native, hydration-holding foliage defends the deck from embers. The beautiful, dense oak tree canopy on the right of this photo isthe deck's greatest defense, protecting both the top and under deck from flying embers. Photo: Lesly Hall Photography
