Classic Subway Tile Kitchen... Its Faux Beautiful!
I love the timeless, clean look of Classic white Subway Tile! But wait - this is actually not real tile! I used that marvelous paintable textured wallpaper! If you know how to work with this stuff (which I do!) you can get this beautifully convincing look at a fraction of the time & cost! This is my Kitchen! I did this project in a day. It is very durable and washable. There are no unsightly wallpaper seams - I have a clever method to solve that! It cost me less than 2 rolls of wallpaper (less than ~$50), Roman paste (1/4 tub = ~ $10), 1/2 a tube of painters caulking (~$2), and maybe 1/4 of a can of white paint I had on hand (~$12) (I used sturdy, scrub-able, furniture/trim paint).. So this cost me ~$75 for materials (I did not charge myself for labour ;-) - Not too shabby hey!? Maybe a little shabby-chic! How much would it cost to install real subway tile?... I googled & HGTV.ca gave this estimate "The average installation and labour cost for a tiled backsplash ranges depending on the material, but plan to budget between $800 and $1,000".
