Hello! We recently purchased a beautiful oceanfront duplex with rooftop patios on both sides. We want to make the most of these high potential spaces for our own use & the use of our rental guests. Right now they are EMPTY! Need ideas for budget-friendly flooring (to protect roofing membrane), furniture, etc. Please help!!

The whole house is 6" steel-reinforced concrete, including the roof. My understanding from the original owner is that the roofing membrane is for water-proofing. There is concrete, and a 2x4 and plywood subfloor on top of concrete, then the commercial grade roofing membrane on top of subfloor. So, the roof itself can handle just about anything, but the waterproof membrane could conceivably be damaged by furniture moving, high heels, etc.

If you could use these heavy rubber mats (by painting white - so you could walk on them) they could work great - http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/rubber-horse-stall-mat-4-ft-x-6-ft as they are cheap and easy to install. Good luck.

Ikea and Home Depot make click in place decking squares (maybe a few other home reno stores probably carry them as well). Usually they come in wood or plastic. The wood ones will weather so it depends if you like that look. I used the grey plastic ones from Ikea on my small balcony and they looked great (sorry it's probably hard to see in this photo)

Here the link to the ikea tiles

It might cost a bit to do your whole deck but it's a great solution which can be removed quickly if you ever needed to repair the roof for any reason

Thanks Brooke! We'll check out those decking squares. Nice view, by the way! :)

Hi! Here are a few ideas:
http://deciture.com/shop/outdoor/world-market/baltic-blue-classic-adirondack-chair/ (comes in a variety of colors and are only $99!)

http://deciture.com/shop/outdoor/world-market/solano-all-weather-wicker-dining-table/ (an all weather table is great for dining outdoors)

    Hope this helps!

I would also consider 3/4" thick porcelain pavers supported by 1/2" rubber pads on each corner
