Hidden television

One of my pet peeves is a nicely designed room with a conspicuous tv. The worst is the TV set above the fireplace or worse set into the masonry like a separate fire box. Any ideas

    If you go to living room photos and put in 'hidden tv' in the search box, you'll find a lot of options. I thought this photo was an interesting way to go.

      What kind of room is this and what is the layout? There are plenty of shelving options, built in and free standing, that hide the television behind a panel.

      We've typically hidden TVs behind retractable doors in kitchen or living room cabinetry. With the larger flat screen TVs we now see, the cabinetry can be shallower, but to span the width of the wider TVs the doors are bifold retractable doors. There are also hardware options to raise a hidden TV out of a "cabinet", or reveal a wall mounted TV hidden behind a piece of artwork with hardware that raises the painting - but this requires adequate ceiling height.
